Liverpool and Real Madrid have blossomed into European rivals in recent years, with the rivalry expected to go to a new level over the summer.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to join Madrid after announcing his exit from Liverpool at the end of this season, with Los Blancos also interested in Ibrahima Konate as the Spanish giants look to add a world-class centre-back to their ranks.

With Alexis Mac Allister also a target for Madrid, the Spanish titans have seemingly been impressed with what they’ve seen from a number of Liverpool players this season, who this season under Arne Slot have looked excellent.

Yet one Madrid player who has been linked with Liverpool could now be set to leave for the right price this summer.

According to AS, Madrid could be tempted to sell Rodrygo Goes this summer after links to Liverpool, with pressure also starting to build on the La Liga giants having to sell one ‘gem’ for big money, if an offer were to come in.

Rodrygo has been linked with Liverpool this year with the Brazilian international seeing his minutes at Madrid dramatically reduce in recent weeks due to illness that kept the forward out of the squad and Arda Guler’s form in the attack.

With Rodrygo having a release clause worth £850m, though Madrid will be within their right to name a high asking price for the 24-year-old winger, especially with the winger’s contract at the Bernabeu lasting until 2028.

Yet with Liverpool set to sell Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, these sales could be enough to bring in a player like Rodrygo, who could be exceptional under Slot at Anfield.

Real Madrid’s loss can be Liverpool’s gain if Rodrygo Goes is sold

Rodrygo’s form at Madrid has often been overshadowed by Vinicius Junior, with the former Santos star remaining a constant provider of goals and assists for Carlo Ancelotti’s side even with his Brazilian teammate taking all the highlights.

And if Madrid decides to sell Rodrygo, the decision could be a blessing for Liverpool, who could sign one of the most electric attackers in Europe who is yet to hit his full potential, something that Slot could help unlock in the years to come.

Indeed, Rodrygo ticks all the boxes Liverpool are looking for in an attacking signing, and Madrid selling the 24-year-old could go a long way in the Reds establishing themselves as the best team in England and beyond.
