Liverpool told they’d be a ‘dream move’ for Harry Kane as Reds look to build on Premier League title success

Liverpool fans are looking forward to what promises to be a big summer after securing the Premier League title.

The Reds are revelling on Monday after seeing their team lift crowned as best in England this season.

Part of what has made the success of Arne Slot so impressive this term is that he has barely added to the Liverpool squad at all after taking over from Jurgen Klopp.

With plenty of irons already in the fire, though, that looks likely to change over the summer months.

A new centre-forward is one of the most likely arrivals, with Liverpool needing a more regular goal scorer through the middle of the attack.

Alexander Isak is the dream target, but according to pundit Ally McCoist, Liverpool should also be eyeing a surprise move for Harry Kane.

There is little question Liverpool need a new central striker to help propel them to the next level.

Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have 11 Premier League goals between them this season, with clear improvement possible by dipping into the transfer market.

And if Liverpool are trying to get a forward, then who better than Kane? The Englishman has 36 goals this season and despite being set to turn 32 this summer, is still at the peak of his powers.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, McCoist claims that if Kane is looking for a way back to the Premier League after winning the German title with Bayern Munich, then Liverpool are the answer.

“Maybe [Liverpool need] an out and out goal scoring centre-forward,” he mused. “I don’t see it happening but say if Harry Kane wins the Bundesliga, which he will do, and then fancies to come back to England. I just think Liverpool would be a dream move for him.”

“Obviously they’re linked with Isak as well,” Troy Deeney chipped in. “Just give them the title for the next five years if they get that fella.”

You can understand the logic behind McCoist’s claim here. After two years in Germany – and standing one win away from winning the Bundesliga – maybe Kane will fancy a move back to England.

There are a number of teams looking for a top striker this summer but, given his Tottenham connections, Chelsea and certainly Arsenal are probably ruled out of the running.

Manchester United would be in there if Kane were available, but the Red Devils are a basket case right now. Liverpool would be the one.

However, while it would make a lot of sense for Liverpool to go after the England legend this summer, it is clearly not something they will do.

Kane would cost a huge amount – far more than the Reds would be willing to spend on a 32-year-old – and there is no indication that the No.9 is ready to end his German adventure anyway. It would be amazing, but we think we can safely rule this one out.
