Trent Alexander-Arnold has been one of Liverpool’s best players this season under Arne Slot.

The England international has once again been a key player for the Reds with Alexander-Arnold once again establishing himself as one of the best fullbacks in the world, with the defender playing a big role in Liverpool’s march to the Premier League title.

Even with Alexander-Arnold closing in on a move to Real Madrid, few Liverpool fans will dismiss the impact the defender has had this season, with the right-back’s partnership with Mohamed Salah an important reason behind the Egyptian’s record-breaking form this year.

And today has seen a big injury update emerge on Alexander-Arnold’s fitness, with the defender missing the last few games for Liverpool due to an ankle problem.

Trent Alexander-Arnold back in Liverpool training at last

According to journalist Vinny O’Connor, Alexander-Arnold has returned to Liverpool training ahead of this weekend’s clash against Leicester City, with Darwin Nunez also back with the Reds having missed Sunday’s win against West Ham.

Alexander-Arnold picked up an injury against PSG last month that has kept the defender out on the sidelines since then, with news of the right-back’s move to Madrid since breaking during the March international break.

With six games left to go and Liverpool in need of six points to secure the Premier League title, Alexander-Arnold’s return for the Reds in the final matches of the season will be huge for Slot and the Reds.

And although the defender could receive a frosty reception during his next appearance for Liverpool at Anfield, most fans will acknowledge how Alexander-Arnold’s return will be for the Premier League leaders, where the defender will want to end the season with a flourish.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will be itching to play again for Liverpool

A lot has happened since Alexander-Arnold last played for Liverpool, with the Reds losing the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle United as news broke that the England international will likely be heading to Madrid in the summer.

Yet for Alexander-Arnold himself, the 26-year-old right-back will be itching to return for his boyhood club and to play for Liverpool before the end of the season, especially with a second Premier League title on the line for the superstar defender.

Indeed, Alexander-Arnold has played as big a role as the likes of Salah or Virgil van Dijk in Liverpool winning the league, and the right-back will want to see out the job with himself on the pitch in the final six games of the season.
