Liverpool fans spot betrayal ‘that’s worse than Trent’ following Arsenal 3-0 Real Madrid in Champions League

It was a Saturday night in Kiev where Liverpool fans’ love affair with Dua Lipa began.

The ‘New Rules’ singer was the pre-match entertainment ahead of the 2018 Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid, a contest that ended 3-1 to the La Liga giants and will always be remembered for Loris Karius’ errors that eventually saw the goalkeeper depart Anfield.

As Dua Lipa sang her number one hit ‘One Kiss’, created alongside Liverpool fan Calvin Harris, fans of the Reds were recorded belting out the dance track in Ukraine and ever since that day, it has become an unofficial anthem for the Merseyside club.

The song is often played at Wembley after Liverpool win a cup competition and also at Anfield after victory in several big games.

However, Liverpool fans may now be about to turn their backs on Dua Lipa as her true football colours have been revealed.

Dua Lipa breaks Liverpool fans’ hearts

Tuesday night saw Arsenal experience one of the greatest nights in the North London club’s history as Mikel Arteta’s men hammered the Spanish giants 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Dua Lipa was spotted in the stands at the Emirates Stadium and when the footage emerged, it broke the heart of one particular Liverpool fan, who would not have been the only one.

“This is worse than Trent,” the Reds supporter wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), referencing Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving Liverpool for Real Madrid at the end of the season.

This should not be a surprise for either Liverpool or Arsenal fans, as Dua Lipa has previously made her football allegiances clear and why she is often spotted at the Emirates Stadium.

Is Dua Lipa a Liverpool or Arsenal fan?

Having been shown love by Liverpool fans after her Champions League final appearance in 2018, Dua Lipa previously told Wired that she is an “honorary Liverpool supporter” and that the singer is in love with the city.

“I’m an honorary Liverpool supporter,” the pop star stated. “My dad and brother support Arsenal, so I’d be getting in a lot of trouble if I said I just support Liverpool. But I love Liverpool – it’s always got a special place in my heart.”

Given that the singer is a London native and that her family are Arsenal fans, it’s not strange that Dua Lipa is often seen at the Emirates, with the singer previously posting a picture of herself on Instagram story at the home of Arsenal back in 2023 during a 4-1 victory over Leeds.

This came after Dua Lipa made her football allegiances clear via The Mirror, in which she said: “I’m not really a big football fan, my little brother and my dad watch football, they support Arsenal. I’ve never been to a football game apart from in PE and they would make me play football myself and I was terrible at it.”

Dua’s love for the sport may have grown since and if you were to ask the singer who she supports at present, she is likely to say Arsenal.

That should not end Liverpool fans’ love affair with the ‘One Kiss’ singer as the pop star wants to enjoy an activity with her family, which is how most football fans got into the sport.
