Liverpool picked up an important three points on Wednesday night after beating Everton in the Merseyside Derby.

It was not an especially pretty performance from the Reds, but they got the job done to move 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

One of the big talking points from the night was Arne Slot’s decision to play Curtis Jones at right-back.

With Conor Bradley not yet ready to play and Trent Alexander-Arnold out for while longer, Slot opted for Jones to fill in at full-back.

In the end, it worked. Liverpool kept a clean sheet and Jones did everything that was asked of him.

The change gave another glimpse into what life for Liverpool could be like without Alexander-Arnold. And as the Scouser’s move to Real Madrid gathers pace, posters aimed his way were spotted dotted around the Anfield area on Wednesday night.

Supporters put up posters aimed at Trent Alexander-Arnold

Since news emerged that Alexander-Arnold is likely to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, plenty of people have had their say.

Liverpool fans are by and large not happy at all with their academy graduate, with a sense of betrayal pervading.

However, others like Alan Shearer have defended Alexander-Arnold, urging Reds supporters to simply wave him off with their best wishes.

Wednesday was the first chance for fans to air their response, and in a Merseyside Derby no less. And as per BBC Sport, some chose to do that with some pointed posters aimed Trent’s way before kick-off.

“Posters have been stuck to boarded up houses outside Anfield,” the outlet posted on X, with images of the messages in question.

“Mate or traitor. Take ya pick, Trent,” said one, with another declaring “Loyalty or lolly. Take ya pick, Trent.”

It’s highly unlikely that Alexander-Arnold will have seen the posters aimed his way before Wednesday’s game.

However, although injured, the 26-year-old was present at Anfield to watch as his teammates took another step towards the Premier League title.

Alexander-Arnold was spotted smiling as the clock ticked down on an important win for Liverpool.

The Scouser is now involved in a race against time to see whether he’ll be fit to play again for the Reds this season, or indeed, ever again.

It feels likely that Alexander-Arnold’s mind has already been made up regarding where his future lies. But this little show is the first sign of what he can expect from Liverpool supporters if he chooses to leave, as expected. It’s not too late, Trent.
