Steven Gerrard had the pleasure of playing amongst a number of top players during his illustrious Liverpool career.
Whether it be Luis Suarez, Xabi Alonso, or Fernando Torres – the Reds icon played with some of the very best at Anfield.
Gerrard hailed Alonso as the best midfielder he played with on Merseyside, whilst labelling Suarez as his greatest Liverpool teammate.
But when it comes to ranking the most skilful, Gerrard wasn’t able to pinpoint one Liverpool player in particular, picking out three names instead.

Steven Gerrard picks out most skilful Liverpool teammates
Many could argue that Luis Diaz is currently Liverpool’s most skilful player – he however fails to compare to the names mentioned by Gerrard.
When asked who was the most skilful player he played with during his time at Liverpool, Gerrard told FourFourTwo in 2017:
“I wasn’t skilful at all. I have played with some really, really skilful players. Philippe Coutinho is obviously a magician. People like Luis Garcia, and Luis Suarez have fantastic skills in them. They would probably be my top three.”
The admiration between the former Reds captain and his teammates seems to swing both ways as Coutinho labelled Gerrard as ‘one of the best’ when picking out the best players he has ever played with.
Dirk Kuyt agrees with Suarez ‘most skilful’ claim
Regarded by some as Liverpool’s greatest-ever forward, Suarez’s inclusion would come as no surprise to Reds fans who witnessed the Uruguayan’s brilliance for three-and-a-half years at Anfield.
Despite Gerrard failing to pick between the three players, Dirk Kuyt had no problem singling Suarez out as his most skilful teammate – singing the praises of the South American back in 2012.
“Luis is very skilful, he’s a great player – I like to see his skills. When I first watched him in Holland, I thought he had a lot of luck in his actions but to watch him over and over again, you then see it’s not luck but just a great player with great skill.”
