Liverpool have the chance to win their first trophy under Arne Slot, as they face off against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.
Currently on track for their second Premier League crown, the Reds could soon make it a double if they can overcome the Magpies at Wembley.
Liverpool have been tipped as champions, but Eddie Howe’s side will be no easy task, with Newcastle looking for their first major trophy since 1955.
With that in mind, Newcastle’s lack of experience in getting over the line could come back to haunt them – especially when you take a look at Liverpool’s recent record in Wembley finals.

Liverpool’s record in finals at the new Wembley
With an impressive 18 domestic cups to their name (ten League Cups and eight FA Cups), Liverpool’s trophy history means they are no stranger to the Wembley arches.
The Reds have enjoyed some successful visits to the capital, most recently winning the Carabao Cup final last season against Chelsea.
Entering this year’s cup final as reigning champions, Liverpool will be hoping to repeat last season’s success – and their impressive Wembley record suggests they could so.
In their six finals at the new Wembley, the Reds have won four of those – having not lost a domestic final since 2016.

Newcastle have never won a new Wembley cup final
Liverpool will be boosted by their record in finals, Newcastle’s Wembley experience hasn’t been as positive though.
The Magpies have actually only competed in one final at the new Wembley, losing out to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final back in 2023.
You then have to stretch back to 1999 to find Newcastle’s second most recent cup final appearance, in which they again lost out to the Red Devils 2-0.
| Season | Opponent | Result | Competition |
| 16/05/98 | Arsenal | 0-2 (L) | FA Cup |
| 22/05/99 | Man United | 0-2 (L) | FA Cup |
| 26/02/23 | Man United | 2-0 (L) | League Cup final |
Liverpool’s form this season and record at Wembley makes them strong favourites heading into the final – Newcastle though will be desperate to get their trophy drought off their back.
