Liverpool had to save themselves from embarrassment versus Southampton, coming from behind to win 3-1 at Anfield.
In what was a game of two halves for the Reds, Arne Slot’s side had to rescue the three points after a sloppy first half display.
Liverpool were far from their best, luckily for them though Darwin Nunez would step up to the plate and kick his side into action.
Like many of the Reds eleven, the 25-year-old was not up to scratch in the first half, with Nunez nearly being sent off just before the half-time whistle.
The Uruguayan, however, would turn on the magic in the second 45, scoring the equaliser and winning a penalty for his side – something which has earned him praise from Liverpool fans.

A third fan said: “I. Can’t. Hate. Darwin. Nunez. I can’t, he won’t let me.”
“Darwin Nunez just had the greatest 90 seconds in football history,” added another supporter.
Nunez sends message to Arne Slot against Saints
Nunez impressed against PSG from the bench, so it was no surprise to see Slot hand him a start against Southampton.
First-half performances aside, the Uruguayan did provide the goods for his manager, kick-starting Liverpool’s eventual comeback.

Nunez has been linked with a Liverpool exit, but performances like that will no doubt keep him at Anfield a little longer.
