Liverpool are arguably the best team in the world right now, with the Reds clear favourites for the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

The Anfield side have opened up a 13-point gap over Arsenal in the English top-flight whilst Arne Slot’s men take on PSG this evening in a blockbuster European tie, with Jamie Carragher backing Liverpool to progress to the next round.

Mohamed Salah backed to win Ballon d’Or after legendary Liverpool season

Speaking on TalkSport, the former Aston Villa striker lauded Mohamed Salah as ‘the most talented player in the world, with the Liverpool winger on course to enjoy his best season yet in the Premier League and to break a number of records along the way.

“When I look at the game tonight and the Champions League, I think Liverpool will win it, and the most talented player in the world for me, Mo Salah, is the reason why.

“When you watch him, the outside of the foot assists, when he gets on the ball he can do everything, he’s at the backpost scoring goals, he’s even work at the back defending when needed.

“All those pundits calling Salah out saying he doesn’t do enough and he wont’ win the Ballon d’Or because he’s not as good on the eye, he has everything and he’s my favourite for the Ballon d’Or if Liverpool win the Champions League and Premier League.”

What records could Mohamed Salah break this season?

From becoming Liverpool’s first European goalscorer with 50 goals to being tipped by Rio Ferdinand to break a Premier League record set by Thierry Henry, it’s safe to say Salah has had a season for the ages with the Reds.

And with two months of the campaign left to go, there’s still plenty of history that the Liverpool no. 11 could make between now and May, with a goal against Fulham and Crystal Palace helping Salah break another Premier League record.

With Erling Haaland’s 36-goal league record also within Salah’s sights, there’s a real chance that the historybooks could be rewritten in dramatic fashion by the Egyptian international in the coming weeks, a feat that the winger will be intent on reaching.
