Mohamed Salah is currently in the form of his life.

The Egyptian superstar is firing Liverpool to the Premier League with the winger’s goal and assist against Man City on Sunday helping the Reds open up an 11-point gap at the top of the table.

Salah broke two more records for Liverpool at the weekend with his goal contributions leaving the 32-year-old on 30 goals and 21 assists across 38 matches this season.

Former Liverpool star Luis Garcia believes Salah should be in contention for the Ballon d’Or in 2025 and that may be on the cards for the Egyptian international if continues putting in world-class displays.

Current Ballon d’Or holder Rodri has explained why Salah is so hard to play against, but there is still a player who has been better in the Premier League within the last five years, according to Ivan Toney.

Ivan Toney picks Sergio Aguero over Mohamed Salah

Salah will be chasing more Premier League history throughout the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign as the Egyptian star looks to cement his legacy in the English top flight further.

Sergio Aguero’s is already set in stone having left Man City in 2021 with five Premier League titles, six EFL Cups and one FA Cup under his belt.

The Argentina star’s trophy haul trumps that of Salah’s, but many will feel that the Liverpool star has been better from an individual standpoint, however, Toney is not one of them.

Playing a game of winner stays on with the Daily Mail, the English striker would pick Salah over Erling Haaland initially but when the name of Aguero was presented to him, the Al-Ahli star flipped, believing the Argentine is a better player than the Liverpool winger.

This will be a controversial take for many and there are many arguments for both as to why one is better than the other.

Both have had legendary Premier League careers and having played a similar amount of games, the forwards are quite easy to compare.

Mohamed Salah has surpassed Sergio Aguero’s legacy

Salah recently tied a record of Aguero’s against Wolves having reached 231 Premier League goal involvements for a single club, a number the 32-year-old has since surpassed.

Overall, Salah’s record from an individual point of view is better than the former Man City star as the winger has produced more goal contributions than the Argentine despite playing fewer games.

There is also the case to be made that the Egyptian star has been playing in a weaker team as Man City have dominated English football since the arrival of Pep Guardiola in 2016, which means the Argentina legend was being served by better players.

During his time at Man City, Aguero never won the Professional Footballers’ Association Men’s Players’ Player of the Year award, which is regarded as the highest individual award in England.

Salah is on course to add another to his collection this season having been crowned the winner in 2018 and 2022.

Should he do this, any debate between Salah and Aguero becomes a hard one to argue from the former Man City striker’s point of view.
