Liverpool have learned their path to the Champions League title this season.
The Reds topped the league phase of the 2024/25 Champions League having won seven out of their eight games.
The Merseyside club have looked comfortable in the competition so far with Liverpool impressing against Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan.
There rewards for that effort is a Last-16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain, who look to be dark horses in the competition this season, evident in how easily they brushed aside Stade Brestois in the last round.
Liverpool were linked to Kvicha Kvaratskhelia in January and fans of the Merseyside club will get to see what they missed out on, while PSG will get a closer look at Ibrahima Konate in the next round.
The history between the two clubs is short and sweet, but it is evident that the Ligue 1 champions pose a threat to European hopes of Arne Slot’s men.

Liverpool’s head-to-head record against Paris Saint-Germain
Both teams will arrive into their Champions League Last-16 tie top of their respective leagues having performed admirably this season.
Liverpool have only played Paris Saint-Germain four times in their history, with the head-to-head record level at 2-2.
The last time the two sides met was in the group stages during the 2018/19 edition of the competition where the Ligue 1 outfit defeated the Reds 2-1 in Paris.
The reverse fixture at Anfield was a thriller with a last-minute winner from Roberto Firmino putting an end to a comeback from PSG after the Reds found themselves 2-0 up.
Before that, Liverpool and PSG met in the semi-final stage of the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup in 1997 with the French club advancing to the final.
The Paris-based outfit hammered the Reds 3-0 in the first-leg in France, before the Premier Legue side made a valiant effort to turn the tie around with a 2-0 win at Anfield.
This short history shows how even and thrilling games have been between both clubs and that is expected to continue when the European giants face each other next month.
PSG have struggled against English clubs
All though PSG’s record against Liverpool is even, the French club’s record against English clubs does not look very pretty.
The Ligue 1 leaders have played opposition from England 31 times, winning nine, drawing nine and losing 13.
Luis Enrique’s side were defeated 2-0 by Arsenal this season, before overcoming Man City in a 4-2 thriller in Paris.
This indicates where the Ligue 1 leaders are at present as PSG have continued to get better as the campaign has developed.
The French champions pose a big threat to Liverpool’s Champions League hopes, but the Reds have already dispatched the champions of England, Spain and Germany this season.
