Micah Richards explains why Mohamed Salah had him ‘throwing stuff at the TV’ during Liverpool 2-1 Wolves

Liverpool’s win over Wolves on Sunday was not an easy watch for anybody.

Wolves fans may have enjoyed parts of the second-half with their team on top, but they still ultimately lost the game.

As for the Liverpool supporters, they had no right to be happy with what was an undercooked display from the Reds.

Arsenal fans would have hoping for a twist in the same vein as the one provided by James Tarkowski just days earlier, but that never arrived either.

From a neutrals point of view, plenty may have tuned in to keep an eye on their fantasy football teams. With Mohamed Salah one of the highest-scoring players of all time in this respect, many of those would have him in their team.

One such enthusiast is Micah Richards. But according to the former Man City defender, Salah really let him down on Sunday.

Micah Richards annoyed with Mohamed Salah display

Salah himself has mentioned on multiple occasions his pride at being such a high-scorer in fantasy football. He is clearly aware of such things.

As the top goal scorer and assister in the Premier League this season, he is the man to have in your team.

Salah underlined that having scored a penalty in the first-half against Wolves. But after seeing a second goal ruled out for offside, Richards told Gary Lineker on The Rest Is Football that he was ‘throwing stuff at the TV’ in annoyance with Mo.

“Did you captain him, Mo Salah?” asked Lineker, before being treated to a rendition of Salah’s song by Richards.

“That would’ve been a great goal that one where he was marginally offside,” said the former England striker.

“I was throwing stuff at the TV and everything!” replied Richards. “I’m like ‘why are you offside, you’re quick enough, you don’t need to be offside there!’

“He comes in, bent it in, what a strike that was, it was a brilliant strike. But he still got me a goal, still got me seven points and it’s a double game week.”

Salah extends lead in Golden Boot race

It was indeed frustrating that Salah had not held his run long enough for his second effort of the day to count on Sunday.

The ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold was amazing and the finish from Salah was one of his best all season.

Usually so adept at knowing the exact time to run beyond the defenders, it was a slight surprise to see that the Egyptian King had strayed offside.

Nevertheless, his goal still put him one more clear of Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot race after the Man City striker failed to score on Saturday.

The same game also saw Alexander Isak fail to find the net, leaving Chris Wood to leapfrog the Swede into third place with 18 goals. It’s hotting up, but Mo is still on course for record-equalling fourth award.
