What Andy Robertson was spotted doing to the Liverpool crowd as Wolves pushed for an equaliser

Liverpool ground out what could be an important three points against Wolves on Sunday.

The Reds were far below their usual level at Anfield, but found a way to beat the visitors 2-1.

In the first-half, things had looked to be only going one way, as Liverpool raced into a 2-0 lead after just over half an hour.

But in truth, Wolves always looked better value than the scoreline suggested and they really tested the Reds during the second-half.

After Matheus Cunha got one back, the Liverpool squad seemed to see all energy sap out of their legs.

And as Wolves pushed to grab what began to feel like an inevitable equaliser, Andy Robertson was spotted making an interesting motion towards the Liverpool fans.

Andy Robertson calls for calm

Robertson was once again facing a player linked with being his successor at Anfield on Sunday.

After seeing Milos Kerkez deliver a good performance for Bournemouth two weeks ago, it was Rayan Ait Nouri’s turn.

And with Ait Nouri genuinely terrific on the Wolves left, supporters must have been casting envious eyes towards the Algerian as they watched Robertson struggle yet again.

The Scotland captain looked more overawed than most by the understandable nervousness emitting from the stands and journalist Ian Doyle spotted him pleading for calm with the Kop.

“Robertson just turned to the Kop and motioned to them to perhaps chill out a little bit,” Doyle posted on X.

After squeezing past Wolves, Robertson was the man put forward to face the Sky Sports cameras once the final whistle had blown.

And asked about what Liverpool did to get the win over the line, the left-back admitted that there had been some nerves both on and off the pitch.

“I thought we dug deep when they scored,” said Robertson.

“Everyone gets nervous, the players get nervous, the crowd get nervous, of course that’s only natural. But it’s a massive win for us and another game down.”
