Liverpool were relatively comfortable during a first-half against Wolves in which they raced into a two goal lead.
The Reds knew only a win would do against Vitor Pereira’s relegation-threatened side after seeing their lead cut to four points after Arsenal beat Leicester on Saturday.
Thankfully, Liverpool got the memo. Despite kicking towards the Kop in the first-half, the Reds got off to a good start, Luis Diaz bundling them ahead after 15 minutes.
Mohamed Salah then doubled the lead after Diaz had done well to win a penalty, with Anfield settling in for what they hoped would be an enjoyable afternoon.
However, Wolves were not done. Pereira was bullish ahead of playing Liverpool and his team caused the Reds problems throughout the game.
One player in particular who couldn’t seem to get to grips with the afternoon was Ibrahima Konate. And after seeing Konate flirt with a red card, Jamie Carragher did not hold back on the Liverpool centre-back.

Jamie Carragher unimpressed by Ibrahima Konate
Konate had been in the news before Sunday’s game after admitting in an interview with French broadcaster Telefoot that he was ‘flattered’ by transfer interest from PSG and Real Madrid.
But had those two teams been watching the Frenchman’s performance against Wolves, they would not have been impressed.
Carragher certainly was not. Commentating for Sky Sports, the 47-year-old took aim at Konate after seeing him go in late for a tackle while on a yellow card.
“It’s a stupid challenge from Konate, he’s on a yellow card,” bemoaned the Liverpool legend.

“I’d be surprised if he comes our for the second-half. It’s not a yellow card, he just misjudges the header but it’s a daft challenge, absolutely ridiculous. He does have those moments Konate. He was a bit like that on Wednesday night [vs Everton] as well.”
“Slot is talking now to his assistant, there’s absolutely no doubt Konate will be coming off at half-time,” Carragher added. “He’s done a couple of stupid things in the game, pulling someone back by the opposition corner flag, which he didn’t need to do.”
Jamie Redknapp claims Konate should have seen red
While we tend to agree with Carragher’s assessment that the second Konate challenge was daft, but not a yellow, former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp disagreed.
Speaking to Sky at half-time Redknapp claimed that the France international was ‘extremely lucky’ not to get a red card.
“Extremely lucky,” said the pundit. “This is definitely a first booking, stopping a counterattack and once you’ve been booked you can’t do anything else and he goes into a really clumsy challenge.
“You have to save him from himself because he looks like he’s going to get himself sent off.”
After such a poor moment from Konate, Carragher’s prediction did indeed come true, with Jarell Quansah brought on for the No.5 at the break.
