The Reds have had a number of standout performers so far this campaign.
Mohamed Salah has earned widespread praise, meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk has been lauded for his performances in the Liverpool backline.
One Reds star that arguably goes under the radar, however, is Cody Gakpo.
After an initial mixed start at Anfield, Gakpo has been on fire for Arne Slot’s side this term, bagging 21 goal contributions so far.
With that being said, it seems now like the 25-year-old is starting to get the recognition he deserves following news that he was voted as Liverpool’s Mens Player of the Month for January.

Liverpool fans react to Cody Gakpo’s January POTM award
Picking up his first POTM accolade at Anfield, Gakpo pipped Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai to the trophy, with his tally of four goals and an assist helping Liverpool go unbeaten in the Premier League during January.
Reds supporters have since reacted to the news, claiming the award was well-deserved for the Dutchman.
One fan said (via X formerly Twitter): “Well deserved. I hope he continues with his form.”
A third supporter added: “What a season this lad is having…He surely deserves a song from the Anfield faithful
“He (Gakpo) cooked in January,” another fan stated.
Gakpo speaks on his dazzling Liverpool form
The 25-year-old took his time to adapt to the Premier League but Peter Crouch believes Gakpo is now looking ‘incredibly sharp’ under Slot – something that has clearly been recognised by the fans.
Speaking on the supporters’ decision to vote for him as POTM, Gakpo said:
“It’s always amazing to get voted by the fans.
“It’s a recognition by the fans for the hard work you put in for the team and I think it’s always nice to get that. I think normally it’s Mo [Salah], which makes sense! But I am very happy that I can win this one.”
Gakpo then reflected on what was a very successful January for both him and the club.
“It was a good month for us, for everybody I think. We had some tough games but at the end we performed very well in those difficult games and, yeah, I’m very happy.
“I think we had some pretty good performances also, like Brentford away, which is a difficult game for us, that we won in the 90-plus minute [when] Darwin [Nunez] scored twice. Those things are what makes a season and those are the very important games.
“Also, we didn’t lose at [Nottingham] Forest with the substitutions and directly the goal. I think that those things are very important for us as a team, that we stick together.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s people coming in or starting, we do it all together and I think we showed that in this month again.”
