Liverpool travel to Plymouth Argyle on Sunday afternoon looking to continue their incredible season.

The two teams will go head-to-head for a place in the FA Cup fifth round as the Reds hope to continue their quest for an unprecedented quadruple, while the Championship side look to add some magic to their season.

Miron Muslic’s team currently sit bottom of the Championship and look certain to be relegated despite still being within reach of safety.

Ahead of the clash at Home Park Stadium, Muslic has heaped praise on Liverpool head coach Arne Slot with the Plymouth manager stating that he is a huge admirer of the Dutch coach and that he tries to learn from the 46-year-old.

It would be a massive upset should The Pilgrims knock out the Premier League leaders and it would see Liverpool join a short list in one part of the FA Cup history book.

Liverpool could join Chelsea in FA Cup history books

Heading into Liverpool’s clash with Plymouth some interesting stats are emerging ahead of the FA Cup contest.

The team top of the Premier League have only been eliminated from the FA Cup by a team outside of the English top flight on three occasions – Leeds United by Cardiff in 2001/02, Chelsea by Bradford in 2014/15 and Man City by Wigan in 2017/18.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last eight games against Plymouth in all competitions, winning five and drawing three. The last time the Reds lost to The Pilgrims was in February 1956 suffering a 4-0 defeat.

Plymouth have only ever played Liverpool once in the FA Cup, which came in the third round in 2017, which saw a 0-0 draw at Anfield before the Premier League club won 1-0 in the replay at Home Park.

The Championship side are looking to reach the FA Cup fifth round for just the fifth time in their history on Sunday with the last appearance in this stage of the competition coming in 2007.

Liverpool come into the tie in hot form and an upset is very unlikely on Sunday afternoon as Slot’s men look to continue their push for the quadruple.

Liverpool will arrive into Sunday’s clash with Plymouth in great form as the Reds have won six of their last eight matches, with their only defeat coming against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Slot is expected to rest several stars for the contest at Home Park as the Premier League leaders have the tough task of having to play Everton on Wednesday at Goodison Park.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool’s main injury concern at present, but the full-back was unlikely to play anyway if fit.

Sunday will be a chance for many of Slot’s squad to shine but the Dutch coach will have to strike the right balance, or else the Liverpool head coach runs the risk of an upset.
