With the January transfer window closed, Liverpool can focus their attention to getting the job done and winning the Premier League this season.
In the eyes of some, that mission has been made more difficult by the Reds’ refusal to do any business during the winter market.
Although they are well clear in the Premier League table, there is a feeling that Liverpool could still do with improving certain areas of the squad just a little bit.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, that improvement is likely to come at the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Rousing The Kop, Bailey has outlined Liverpool’s transfer plans for the summer, revealing that it could be an especially busy market for the Reds.
But while that will be good news for supporters, the transfer expert has also issued a warning to Liverpool over their failure to land former target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this January.

Liverpool will regret Khvicha Kvaratskhelia fumble
Clearly supporters would have liked to have seen some movement during the January window, with left-back the area most in need of a new arrival. However, it had always looked unlikely that anything would materialise.
And according to Bailey, Liverpool were never close to bringing in any new arrivals during the New Year.
“The simple answer is no, they were never close,” he says. “They never had any plans to do anything in January, they did not feel they needed to.”
There was a curveball, however. Early into the window, Rousing The Kop revealed that Liverpool were weighing up an offer for Kvaratskhelia having seen him come onto the market. But after choosing to allow PSG a free run at the Georgian, Bailey thinks the Reds may have made a mistake.
“Obviously the Khvicha Kvaratskhelia situation came up, he was a player the club ‘loved’ and they admired him for a long time but the timing clearly was not right,” says the reporter.
“I will be honest, I think not going for Kvaratskhelia could be one they look back on and regret – but they have their plans and getting him now was no part of it.”
Who could Liverpool target instead?
Although the opportunity to buy Kvaratskhelia may never arise again, there are other options out there for Liverpool.
RTK understands that the Reds are keen to boost their attacking talent this summer regardless of whether Mohamed Salah leaves or not.
Darwin Nunez is expected to depart, leaving a spot potentially open in the Liverpool forward line.
Along with Kvaratskhelia, Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao is understood to be a long-term target at Anfield and while a move for the former is now off the table, trying for the latter is not.
Nevertheless, the signing of Kvaratskhelia would have been a delightful surprise for supporters this winter. Liverpool’s loss is certainly PSG’s gain.
