Federico Chiesa made a rare start for Liverpool last night in their final UEFA Champions League league phase game against PSV Eindhoven.

The Italian international has struggled for regular minutes with the Reds after joining last summer for £12m from Juventus, with Chiesa dealing with fitness issues and playing behind in-form forwards like Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

Despite this, the 27-year-old winger gave a good account for himself in Eindhoven last night, with Steve McManaman impressed with Chiesa’s performance for Liverpool as the forward played the entire match away in the Netherlands.

With Chiesa now over his injury problems, the former Serie A superstar now looks ready to show the world what he’s capable of with Liverpool, and the winger’s mindset on what he thinks of playing for the Reds paints a promising picture for the Reds.

Chiesa ‘madly in love’ with Liverpool amid transfer speculation

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Chiesa is ‘madly in love’ with playing for Liverpool with the Italian pleased to have made the move to Anfield last summer, even with the attacker struggling with injury and fitness problems since making the switch to England.

The winger’s lack of playing time has led to Chiesa being linked with a move to Napoli, with Antonio Conte interested in signing the Liverpool star as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who this January has moved to PSG.

With Italy manager Luciano Spalletti urging Chiesa to play more this season, a move back to Serie A could have benefited the 27-year-old given how little the attacker has played for Liverpool under Arne Slot this campaign.

However, Chiesa’s mind seems to be made up, and leaving Liverpool appears to be off the table for the time being, with the winger loving live on Merseyside and now starting to show why the Reds took a gamble on him in the summer.

Chiesa’s Liverpool career looks set to finally take off

Liverpool fans have had to be patient with Chiesa with the Italian international arriving at Anfield in the summer with no pre-season and almost three years worth of injury problems accumulated during his time with Juventus.

Yet finally, Chiesa’s Liverpool career looks set to take off with the winger now fit enough to play full games for the Reds and looking dangerous in the process, with the 27-year-old a real option for Slot in the second-half of the season.

Indeed, everyone is aware of Chiesa’s talents, and Liverpool fans could now be about to see the attacker at his absolute best, with the former ACF Fiorentina star ready to take on the world and to lead the Reds to glory.
