Throughout his eight years at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah has cemented himself as a Reds legend.
Arriving from AS Roma in 2017 following a failed Premier League spell at Chelsea, the transfer of the winger left fans with many doubts, but not those in the boardroom at Anfield.
Daniel Sturridge recently admitted that even Liverpool teammates doubted Salah as they could not have imagined that the 32-year-old would become the player he is today.
“When you look at Mo, when he came to the club, I don’t think I or any of his teammates thought he’d be what he is today,” said Sturridge on Prime Video.
The Egyptian’s form has not let up this season and is arguably better than ever. Across 31 matches, the winger has produced 22 goals and 17 assists, which has made Salah a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or admits former red, Luis Garcia.
Any player would be proud of these numbers and Salah certainly is, with the Egyptian international stating that people won’t realise how special he is until he has left.

Mohamed Salah ‘very proud’ of Liverpool achievements
Liverpool host Ipswich Town on Saturday as the Reds look to continue their charge towards the Premier League title.
Speaking in an interview for Liverpool’s official matchday programme, Salah has commented on scoring more than 20 goals during all eight seasons he has been on Merseyside.
“That is something incredible, something I am very proud of. I worked very hard for that,” the winger stated. “And being also a winger and scoring goals that make a difference in the game is quite hard and people will maybe appreciate it more when they see that in the future.
“It’s quite hard and tricky because sometimes when you do things every day and every year, people just think that it’s not hard. When you do it for six, seven, eight years, people just say it’s normal to do it, but actually it’s not easy.
“It’s not easy at all because it’s very tricky to find a winger to score like 20 or 30 goals, for eight years in a row. But again, something I’m proud of.”
Salah’s strike against Lille made it 233 in a Liverpool shirt, which has helped him close the gap on Gordon Hodgson as the winger closes in on the top three in the club’s all-time leading goalscorer chart.
Mohamed Salah: a modern Liverpool great
It is not often a player is called a great or a legend before they have retired or even left the club they are playing at, which is certainly the case for Salah.
The 32-year-old has made it undeniable, as the numbers the Egypt captain puts up yearly are simply phenomenal.
The winger’s strike against Lille made it 233 goals and 105 assists across 280 games at Liverpool. The superstar is now just eight goals away from the top three in Liverpool’s all-time top goalscorers list – a record he will certainly have his eye on throughout the rest of the season
| # | Player | Goals | Games |
| 1 | Ian Rush | 346 | 660 |
| 2 | Roger Hunt | 285 | 492 |
| 3 | Gordon Hodgson | 241 | 377 |
| 4 | Mohamed Salah | 233 | 380 |
| 5 | Billy Liddell | 288 | 534 |
Salah has been linked to Saudi Arabia this month as the Reds star is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and there has been no major update on a deal being close.
New terms will need to be agreed if the superstar is to climb this list further and that is an outcome Liverpool fans would love to see play out.
