Liverpool are still to act in the winter 2025 transfer window but have landed possible boosts for their interest in attacking and midfield signings, with defenders even eyed.
The Merseyside club could refresh their entire team this year, with Liverpool having already bought Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia to bolster their goalkeeper options. Arne Slot is now working with the Anfield hierarchy to identify targets to improve their outfield options.
But the Liverpool head coach could also lose some star players with transfers out of Anfield even on the cards. Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are even still yet to sign new contracts, with the trio on course to vacate Liverpool for free come June 30.
So, with the winter 2025 transfer window gathering pace, Rousing The Kop rounds up all of the latest Liverpool news and rumours as gossip columns burst linking the Reds with deals…
Nottingham Forest slap an £80m price tag on Liverpool transfer target Murillo

Graeme Bailey has exclusively told Rousing The Kop that Nottingham Forest will reject offers below £80m for Murillo’s transfer after the Liverpool target signed his new contract through June 2029 on Tuesday. Anfield chiefs are also now looking into potential alternative signings.
Liverpool are great admirers of Murillo, but have also marked Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton and Chelsea talent Levi Colwill as possible options amid their search for a left-footed centre-back. Murillo remains an option for Liverpool but his new contract complicates their pursuit.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are also following Murillo’s performances for Nottingham Forest as the Classico rivals consider new central defensive reinforcements. But the Brazilian is not looking to leave the City Ground yet and the expectation is that he stays until, at least, 2026.
Fabrizio Romano issues an update on Liverpool’s interest in Rayan Cherki’s transfer

Fabrizio Romano believes ‘there could be movement’ from Liverpool for the transfer of Lyon winger Rayan Cherki in the winter 2025 window. The Reds are one of the 21-year-old’s many admirers around Europe after offering five goals and eight assists in 22 games this season.
Anfield chiefs are not currently in contact with their counterparts at the Groupama Stadium over a deal for the versatile France U21 midfielder. But Romano feels Liverpool might target Cherki’s transfer as he has a gentleman’s agreement with Lyon’s owner John Textor to leave.
Textor agreed to sell Cherki for €22.5m (£19m) in either the winter 2025 market or summer 2025 window when the Lyon native signed a new contract until June 30, 2026 in September. Liverpool are now considering advancing their interest to thwart the rival sides eying Cherki.
Liverpool lead Manchester City in the transfer race to sign Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich remains a hot topic in the transfer market with the Bayern Munich star out of contract in the summer. But the 29-year-old is eager to take his time to decide where his future will be with Liverpool and Manchester City amongst the teams to consider a transfer.
A move to Anfield has stronger odds than a move to Etihad Stadium, though, with Liverpool more likely than Manchester City to sign Kimmich if the German does leave Bayern Munich for free. The Citizens’ hierarchy wants to land younger players to refresh their engine room.
Despite his availability to negotiate Bosman deals with foreign teams already, the Germany captain remains a vital player in Bavaria with Kimmich starting in all 18 of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga matches so far this season. He has also penned a goal and five assists this term.
Barcelona prioritise signing Luis Diaz or Alexander Isak over Marcus Rashford

Rumours about a transfer away from Manchester United for Marcus Rashford in the winter 2025 market have bubbled away throughout the window. But a transfer to Barcelona might not be on the cards for the England international as they prefer Liverpool forward Luis Diaz.
Barcelona are prioritising signing Diaz over Rashford as the Blaugrana strive to deliver Hansi Flick new attacking weaponry. The Camp Nou club would also favour deals to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United or Rafael Leao from AC Milan over Rashford leaving Old Trafford.
Diaz has earned himself a spot amongst Barcelona’s top transfer targets after boasting eight goals and two assists in 20 of Liverpool’s first 21 Premier League games this season, starting 15. Rashford has four goals and an assist in 15 of Manchester United’s 22 games, starting 12.
