Liverpool have been linked with a number of interesting players this January, with Greek youngster Stefanos Tzimas one of the more prominent names in the rumour mill.
The FC Nurnberg teenager has established himself as one of the most exciting talents in Germany having scored nine goals and bagging two assists in the 2. Bundesliga, with Liverpool believed to be keeping tabs on Tzimas.
However, recent reports have suggested that Liverpool actually have no interest in Tzimas, even with Darwin Nunez linked with an exit from Anfield and PSG now making Mohamed Salah their top target for the summer transfer window.
Yet despite the potential attacking outgoings, Tzimas moving to Merseyside seems unlikely, and Liverpool might have just been given another reason why they shouldn’t move for the teenager.

Nurnberg ready to increase Tzimas’ asking price after rumoured Liverpool interest
According to AS Roma Live, the Bavarian side are ready to hike up Tzimas’ asking price amid rumoured interest from Liverpool this January and also from the likes of AS Roma, Arsenal and Aston Villa, with AC Milan, Inter Miami and Juventus also believed to be watching the attacker.
With Chelsea also interested in signing Tzimas, competition to sign the 19-year-old is growing fierce, with ready to increase their asking price for the Greek youth international to as much as €30m (£25m) heading into the summer transfer window.
Indeed, Tzimas will join Nurnberg on a permanent deal in the summer from PAOK with the second-tier German side seemingly set to immediately flip the young forward for a massive profit after such an impressive year.
Yet for Liverpool, their decision to pull out of the race for Tzimas is proving to be a good one, with the Reds making a smart move to focus on other targets who could make a stronger impact at Anfield if signed this summer.
Does Tzimas this form even warrant interest from Liverpool?
Tzimas is clearly a talented player with the 19-year-old attacker very much at the start of his career having flourished in the German second-tier with one of the division’s biggest sides in Nurnberg.
| Stefanos Tzimas’ 2024/25 Nurnberg stats | Games played | Goals | Assists |
| 2. Bundesliga | 15 | 9 | 2 |
| DFB-Pokal | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| Total | 15 | 9 | 2 |
Yet as per the forward’s stats for this season, Liverpool are well within their right to drop their interest in signing Tzimas even with the striker approaching double digits in terms of goals scored and managing two assists.
Indeed, Liverpool are top of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League standings and will want to improve in the summer, and whilst Tzimas is a star for the future, the Reds will be better off spending their money elsewhere at the end of the season.
