Liverpool made it seven wins from seven in the UEFA Champions League after a professional 2-1 win against LOSC Lille at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah fired the hosts ahead in the first-half before a ten-man Lille brought the game back to 1-1 through rumoured Liverpool target Jonathan David, with Harvey Elliott securing the win for the Reds with a deflected effort after coming on at the break.
Although Curtis Jones picked up a potential injury problem for Liverpool, it was overall a good night at Anfield for the Merseyside giants, with Arne Slot’s side securing passage to the last-16 of the Champions League with a game to play.
And Alan Shearer was very happy to see one Liverpool player named in the starting XI this evening.

Shearer happy to see Nunez named in Liverpool’s starting XI
Speaking on Amazon Prime’s coverage of the match, the former England international shared his joy at seeing Darwin Nunez in the starting XI, with the striker enjoying a record-breaking Premier League performance on Saturday against Brentford.
Nunez scored two stoppage-time goals to secure a massive 2-0 win for the Reds in west London on the weekend, and Shearer was pleased to see the Uruguay international return to the starting XI after his heroics in the English capital.

Shearer said: “I’m pleased to see Nunez back in the starting eleven, and I’m pretty sure he will be as well. When you’ve scored at the weekend you cannot wait until the next game and you’re hoping and praying you’re going to be involved. There’s nothing worse than scoring two goals and finding yourself on the bench again.
“But when you’re in there you have to make an impact because he’s missed too many chances this season. He gets himself into good positions and he won the game at the weekend, but that has to continue game after game, week after week.”
Nunez will be frustrated with his performance vs Lille
Liverpool fans were in good spirits about Nunez this evening after the striker delivered what might have been his most important performance yet for the Premier League giants on the weekend against Brentford.

Yet as per the striker’s actual stats for the game tonight against Lille, Nunez will be frustrated that he wasn’t able to build from his match-winning heroics in west London, especially with the French side going down to ten-men early on in the second-half.
With Slot challenging Nunez to become more consistent for Liverpool, the Uruguayan international knows he missed a trick this evening by not adding another goal to his overall tally for the season, with this weekend’s tie against Ipswich Town another chance for the striker to make his mark.
