Liverpool refrained from splashing the cash in Arne Slot’s first summer in charge of the club.

The Dutchman inherited a strong squad from Jurgen Klopp and added only Federico Chiesa to his ranks, although an agreement in principle was reached to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in the summer of 2025.

However, Liverpool are set to be active in the upcoming transfer window as they aim to breathe new life into the squad at Anfield.

And if reports are to be believed, an exciting attacker who is lighting up the UEFA Champions League this season is on their radar.

Jonathan David has been in fine form for Lille this season and has already scored four goals in the UEFA Champions League, including his team’s solitary goal in the victory against Real Madrid last month.

With his contract set to run out next summer, the Canadian has emerged as a bit of a wanted man as teams across Europe prepare to fight for his signature.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool have already made an ‘enquiry’ for David, with Arsenal and Juventus also in the running to snap him up.

While the Reds wouldn’t have to pay a transfer fee if David arrived at the club next summer, he’s expecting a salary of £4.2m per season, while his agents are demanding around £6.5 as commission.

Liverpool have been following David for over four years and could finally get their hands on him next summer on a free transfer.
