Liverpool have seen a big number of youngsters come through and make an impact in the first-team over the past couple of seasons.
The Reds had to count on their academy a little more than usual following injuries to their senior players during the 2023/24 campaign.
One of the most standout of those prospects has been Conor Bradley, who has kicked on to become the heir apparant at right-back if Trent Alexander-Arnold leaves this summer.
However, rewind a year further to 2022, and Bradley was probably not the player Liverpool had pegged with this status.
Having signed him from Aberdeen as a 19-year-old, there was widespread belief that Calvin Ramsay could go on to make the right-back spot his own in the future.
Unfortunately, injuries and a series of disappointing loan moves have meant that Ramsay has become something of a forgotten man at Anfield. But after the now 21-year-old secured a loan move back home to Scotland with Kilmarnock, fresh hope has been given over his Liverpool future.

Liverpool still believe in Calvin Ramsay
Things could hardly have gone worse for Ramsay over the past two-and-a-half years.
Had things have worked out as they were planned to, he would never have even gone out on-loan in the first place. Instead, the Scotland international has played for Preston, Bolton, Wigan and now Kilmarnock across two seasons.
But despite not being able to nail down a regular place at any of his previous loan clubs, Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes says that Liverpool still believe in Ramsay’s ability.
“People at Liverpool do not make mistakes, they do their work, they’ve spent a lot of money and they believe in him,” McInnes says via the Liverpool ECHO.

“But equally, it is up to us to now help him but he has got to try and help us at the same time.
“What we feel and what Liverpool feel at this moment in time is that he needs to be working with somebody who knows him,” adds the manager.
“I think they want to get back to basics and just try to get a really successful loan. It’s all part of the learning curve for Calvin.”
Kilmarnock can get Ramsay back on track
This is an interesting move for Ramsay as McInnes was the manager at Aberdeen while he was breaking through back in 2021.
It is seemingly no coincidence that the full-back has landed with a manager who knows him well after a series of underwhelming moves.
| Team | Apperances | Goals | Assists |
| Liverpool | 2 | 0 | 0 |
| Preston | 2 | 0 | 0 |
| Bolton | 4 | 0 | 0 |
| Wigan | 12 | 0 | 0 |
The first step for Ramsay is to get back playing regularly and become an important player for Kilmarnock.
If he can do that, then there is no reason Liverpool won’t still see him as an option for the future. McInnes went on to call Ramsay a ‘super talented’ player and there is clearly something there.
But after all the trials of the best couple of years, it does feel a bit like it’s last chance saloon time for Calvin.
