Liverpool have sent an array of players out on loan in the 2024/25 season, so Rousing The Kop keeps you up to date with how they are each performing away from Anfield.

Loan transfers can offer the perfect chance for the stars of tomorrow in Liverpool’s academy to showcase their potential. Temporary spells away from Merseyside can also help first-team Liverpool players find a route back from the wilderness should any fall out of the senior side.

The 24/25 season Liverpool loan army also now have a new head coach to amaze after Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp. Anfield chiefs turned to the Dutchman to succeed Klopp in May, trusting the tactician who only used 25 players in Feyenoord’s 34 Eredivisie games last term.

Liverpool have 15 players out on loan in 2024/25

Klopp relied on 30 of an available 45 players to feature for Liverpool in the 2023/24 Premier League season. The Reds also sent a number of players out on loan to earn regular minutes they would not otherwise enjoy at Anfield, including Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho.

While Carvalho struggled during his loan for RB Leipzig in the first half of last term, his form at Hull City from January onwards showed another benefit of a temporary move. Brentford paid Liverpool up to £27.5m with add-ons to sign Carvalho in August after 21 Reds matches.

Luke Chambers – on loan to Wigan Athletic

Liverpool agreed to send Luke Chambers back on loan to Wigan Athletic in the 24/25 season after first joining the Latics in January 2024. The centre-back enjoyed a regular presence for Wigan during his first spell at the club, yielding one goal and three assists in 18 appearances.

Returning to the Brick Community Stadium initially saw Chambers enjoy an integral role for the League One squad, too. But the Preston native sustained a back injury in October 2024, which derailed Chambers’ loan for Wigan with the Liverpool prospect sidelined for months.

Lewis Koumas – on loan to Stoke City

Stoke City signed Lewis Koumas on loan from Liverpool for the 24/25 season to offer the left winger his first temporary move away from Anfield. The Reds academy talent has made one senior appearance at Liverpool during an FA Cup tie against Southampton in February 2024.

Luca Stephenson – on loan to Dundee United

Liverpool sent Luca Stephenson back out on loan for the 24/25 season with a one-campaign deal with Dundee United. The midfielder, who is yet to play a senior game for the Reds, had spent the 23/24 season on loan with Barrow AFC for 34 outings without a goal involvement.

Rhys Williams – on loan to Morecambe

Liverpool defender Rhys Williams stepped down to League Two to join Morecombe on loan, initially until January 2025, after an injury-plagued year. The centre-half failed to feature for Aberdeen or Port Vale in 2023/24 yet was key with Morecambe, so stayed until the summer.

Giorgi Mamardashvili – on loan to Valencia

Liverpool confirmed the signing of Giorgio Mamardashvili from Valencia in a £25m plus £4m in add-ons transfer on August 27, 2024. But the Georgia goalkeeper stayed in La Liga for one further season and will not arrive on Merseyside until July 2025 to earn first-choice minutes.

Owen Beck – on loan to Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers have regularly taken players on loan from Liverpool in recent years and the Championship side returned to Anfield in August to agree the season-long signing of Owen Beck. The left-back has often left on loan in recent years including with Dundee FC last term.

Calum Scanlon – on loan to Millwall

Millwall raided the Liverpool academy ahead of deadline day in August 2024 to sign Calum Scanlon on a season-long loan. It marked the England Under-20 left-back’s first senior loan move after three years on Merseyside, which yielded two first-team games for 51 minutes.

Nat Phillips – on loan to Derby County

Liverpool agreed to another loan transfer in the Championship for Nat Phillips on August 30 as Derby County captured a deadline day deal. The defender has not featured with the Reds since January 2023 following a flurry of temporary stints spent away from Merseyside since.

Ben Doak – on loan to Middlesbrough

Liverpool sent Ben Doak on loan to Middlesbrough in a deadline day deal to secure him first-team minutes for the 2024/25 season. It marked his first move away from Merseyside since joining from Celtic in 2022. Doak has 10 outings for 307 minutes with Liverpool’s senior side.

Calvin Ramsay – on loan to Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock moved to get Calvin Ramsay on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season in January after Liverpool recalled the right-back from Wigan Athletic. The right-back spent the first half of the campaign with the Latics but he struggled for regular minutes in League One.

Stefan Bajcetic – on loan to Las Palmas

Liverpool recalled Stefan Bajcetic from what became an unsuccessful loan transfer with RB Salzburg in January. But the Reds ushered the midfielder back out of Anfield on January 31 to spend the rest of the season at Las Palmas in the hopes of Bajcetic getting regular starts.

Dominic Corness – on loan to Gillingham

Liverpool sent Dominic Corness away from Anfield for the second time in his fledgling career with a loan deal for League Two side Gillingham on deadline day for the winter 2025 market. The midfielder had spent 2023/24 at Yverdon Sport, but is still to play in a senior Reds game.

Kaide Gordon – on loan to Portsmouth

Portsmouth beat the deadline for the winter 2025 sales to land a loan transfer for Liverpool winger Kaide Gordon for the remainder of the season. He hit the road to Fratton Park in the final hours to help Pompey’s bid to seal Championship survival in search of regular minutes.

Jayden Danns – on loan to Sunderland

Liverpool left it until late on deadline day for the winter 2025 transfer window but agreed to send Jayden Danns on loan to Sunderland for the rest of the term. His switch to the Stadium of Light even marked the centre-forward’s first spell away from the Reds in his entire career.

Fabian Mrozek – on loan to Forest Green Rovers

Liverpool agreed to send Fabian Mrozek back out on loan late in the winter 2025 window as Forest Green Rovers swopped for the shot-stopper. He joined the National League squad for the rest of the term to earn first-team experience safter a tough time at IF Brommapojkarna.

Players who returned to Liverpool from loan transfers in 2024/25

As well as the aforementioned players who are currently away from Liverpool enjoying loan spells, some also returned to Anfield from their temporary transfers in the 2024/25 season.

Calvin Ramsay – loan to Wigan Athletic

Liverpool sent Calvin Ramsay on loan to Wigan Athletic for the 24/25 season to try and help the right-back get his career on track, having suffered major injuries with Preston North End and Bolton Wanderers in 23/24. But Liverpool recalled Ramsay from Wigan early in January.

Fabian Mrozek – loan to IF Brommapojkarna

Liverpool secured Mrozek the first senior loan transfer of his career with a half-term spell at IB Brommapojkarna. The goalkeeper stayed at the Swedish squad until the end of the 2024 Allsvenskan campaign, having joined in the middle of their season to ease their injury crisis.

Marcelo Pitaluga – loan to Livingston

Liverpool sent young Brazilian goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga on loan to Livingston for a term on deadline day in August 2024. But the shot-stopper struggled for minutes in the Scottish Championship, so Liverpool agreed to let Pitaluga join Fluminense in the winter 2025 sales.

Kaide Gordon – loan to Norwich City

Norwich City swooped on summer deadline day to loan Kaide Gordon from Liverpool for the 2024/25 season. It was the England U20 winger’s first move away from Anfield since joining from Derby County in 2021. But Gordon returned to Liverpool in January after starting once.

Stefan Bajcetic – on loan to RB Salzburg

RB Salzburg raided Liverpool on August 30 to reunite Pep Lijnders with Stefan Bajcetic, with the Spaniard heading to Austria on a season-long loan deal. But after the Red Bull franchise club sacked Lijnders in December, Bajcetic fell out of favour so he returned to Anfield early.

Jakub Ojrzynski – agreed a loan to Spartakos Kitiou

Liverpool never confirmed the move but EL Sports Agency which represents Jakub Ojrzynski announced on September 1 that the goalkeeper agreed to join Spartakos Kitiou on a season-long transfer. Yet issues regarding the paperwork saw him return to Anfield come November.
