Liverpool’s transfer window was turned up several notches on Thursday as the Reds plot a huge January move.
The Reds had looked all set for a quiet winter market, with Arne Slot seemingly happy with the options at his disposal.
But as Rousing The Kop reported on Thursday evening, Liverpool are now weighing up a move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli.
Kvaratskhelia is surprisingly available this January and it’s understood that Liverpool are keen not to miss out on a long-term target.
However, all the while it has been reported that PSG are negotiating with Napoli for the Georgian and the French giants are the current front-runners.
According to new claims from France, though, things are not going smoothly for PSG in their bid to bring Kvaratskhelia to Paris.

PSG can’t afford Khvicha Kvaratskhelia asking price
Although PSG may have stolen an early march on their Premier League rivals for Kvaratskhelia, this deal is seemingly far from being done.
As per French outlet RMC Sport, the Ligue 1 champions are running into a problem in trying to sign the 23-year-old.
They claim that while PSG are indeed very interested in Kvaratskhelia, ‘the file remains complex.’
The main issue appears to be one of price. Napoli are reportedly looking for 80 million Euros, or around £67m to sell their No.77.
And according to RMC, this price would be a ‘difficulty’ for PSG, who would reportedly need to make a ‘big sale’ in order to afford Kvaratskhelia.
It is claimed that PSG could instead look at a loan deal with an option to buy or include players such as Milan Skriniar in the deal. Also, perhaps crucially, it is said that the interest from Premier League clubs – who do have the required funds – could complicate matters.
Liverpool waiting to pounce for Kvaratskhelia
This is not a surprise to hear. If PSG were able to get a straightforward deal done for Kvaratskhelia, then perhaps Liverpool would not be interested at all.
That the Reds are clearly positioning themselves suggests that they have some form of confidence that they can swoop in.
Realistically, the price looks slightly prohibitive for Liverpool as well, but having barely spent anything for a whole year, they should have no trouble being able to pay.
With PSG currently in talks with Napoli, though, the Reds will have to get a move on to ensure they don’t lose too much ground to the Paris club.
