Over the years, Liverpool have largely got their dealings in the transfer market spot on, especially with Michael Edwards at the helm.
Under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds splashed the cash on certified matchwinners like Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk, while they also nabbed a bargain or two like Andy Robertson.
However, there were a handful of transfers like Ozan Kabak or Ben Davies that simply didn’t work out, but one of the most baffling transfers the Reds have done over the years was the loan signing of Arthur Melo.
And if reports are to be believed, the Brazilian has rejected the chance to Merseyside and play for Everton.
Former Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo rejects Everton

With Liverpool in desperate need of a midfielder in the summer of 2022, as they were nursing a handful of injuries to Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, they decided to take emergency action.
Arthur was snapped up on a one-year loan deal from Juventus, with the midfielder coming with a good reputation after representing Barcelona and the Brazil national team.
However, what followed was a torrid spell for the former Barcelona man as he took to the pitch just one time as a Liverpool player.
Arthur played just 35 minutes for the Reds as he came on as a second-half substitute in the 4-1 defeat to Napoli in the UEFA Champions League that season.
The Reds obviously didn’t take up the opportunity to sign him permanently, so Arthur went back to Juventus.
Two years after his failed Anfield adventure, it appears as if Everton have made a move for him.
According to Juve FC, Everton made an offer to snap him up in January but Arthur dismissed the idea as he didn’t want to represent Liverpool’s local rivals.
Juventus are looking to offload him to get him off their wage bill, so Arthur’s latest rejection is a bit of a setback for them.
Where did Arthur go after Liverpool?
Arthur was once dubbed as a ‘sensational’ player by Antonio Cassano, but his career hasn’t reached the heights that were expected when he first burst onto the scene.
His Liverpool stint was obviously a disaster as he struggled to get over his injury problems, but he got his career back on track last season with a loan spell at Fiorentina.
He has since returned to Juventus but hasn’t played for the club this season and he finds himself out of favour under Thiago Motta.
Time will tell what Arthur does next, but the Liverpool faithful will want nothing more than for him to get his career back on track as he came off as a likable character during his loan spell with the club.
