Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, who has just returned to Italy after a season out on loan with Liverpool.
According to Tutto Juve, the Magpies, alongside Aston Villa, are keeping tabs on the Brazilian’s situation this summer having spent a year out in the Premier League at Anfield. Though Arthur’s impact with Liverpool was barely noticed as the 26-year-old made just one substitute appearance.
Once lauded as being ‘sensational’ by former Italy international Antonio Cassano, Arthur’s stock has hit an all-time low after his season with Liverpool. However, that hasn’t stopped the likes of Newcastle from registering an interest in the former FC Barcelona man.

As per the report, Juventus are open to selling Arthur for good this summer and could be open to cut-price offers from Newcastle should one arrive in the coming weeks, and Eddie Howe’s side seem keen on bringing the South American to St. James Park.
Indeed, the Toon will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, and whilst Arthur’s form for Liverpool was next-to-non-existent, the midfielder’s experience could be of use for Newcastle in Europe, as well as his Brazilian roots in relation to the Mapgies’ other Samba players.
Arthur could find his form again at Newcastle after torrid Liverpool spell

Arthur’s loan at Liverpool could realistically go down as one of the worst Premier League signings of all time. Yet such a title should not ruin a talented player’s career, and if there was any club where the midfielder could return to form, it’s Newcastle under Howe.
The English coach has proven to get the best out of players who previously looked like their time at the top was done. And with Arthur in need of a new challenge, Newcastle can provide just that for the 26-year-old after year wasted on Merseyside with Liverpool.
