Liverpool cruised to a win over West Ham United during their final fixture of 2024.
The Reds have had an interesting year, with the managerial baton passed from Jurgen Klopp to Arne Slot.
And 2025 could yet prove to be an even more notorious one at Anfield. Their latest win put them eight points clear of second-placed Nottingham Forest in the Premier League table.
But aside from any glory that may await Liverpool, they may also see three of their biggest players leave in 2025.
One of those could be Trent Alexander-Arnold, who like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, is out of contract at the end of the season. Indeed, there have been strong reports coming from Spain over recent days that Alexander-Arnold has agreed to join Real Madrid.
Inevitably after all the rumours, Trent scored during Sunday’s win over West Ham. And once his long-range effort had deflected into the net, supporters will have been interested to see what the 26-year-old did next.

Trent Alexander-Arnold drowns out the noise
On first viewing it had looked like Alexander-Arnold had lined up a howitzer to put Liverpool 4-0 up against West Ham.
However, replays showed that the Liverpool academy graduate had been massively helped by a big deflection off the head of Max Kilman.
Nevertheless, it was a moment in the spotlight for Trent after what has been a tumultuous few days.
And jogging away nonchalantly to celebrate, the England international ensured that he will stay in the headlines for a while longer at least.

As he trundled away, Alexander-Arnold brought his hand to his ear and imitated a chattering sound.
The message from the No.66 was clear: he is drowning out the noise surrounding his future and simply getting on with things on the pitch.
What did Alexander-Arnold’s celebration mean?
In some ways, Alexander-Arnold’s celebration could certainly be seen through a positive lends for Liverpool.
All the noise this week has been that the Liverpool defender is on his way Real Madrid.
By reacting in this way could Alexander-Arnold be suggesting that that talk is nothing but pointless tittering?
Certainly, it would make little sense for Trent to seemingly mock all the chatter that he’s leaving and then proceed to leave anyway.
Still, there’s still a long way to go in this saga and a lot can still happen, so we wouldn’t read too much into anything just now.
