Liverpool have some much-publicised contract worries to resolve in 2025.
The Reds are so close to losing the star trio of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold for nothing in six months time.
However, Liverpool are not the only European super power who are playing fast and loose with the future of a key player.
As things stand, Bayern Munich are set to lose starting left-back Alphonso Davies on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Still only 24 and one of the best left-backs in the world, Davies is expected to join Real Madrid ahead of the 2025/26 season.
But things are not yet a done deal with Real. And according to journalist Christian Falk, the door may now be open for Liverpool to bring Davies to Anfield.

Liverpool in the race to sign Alphonso Davies
Given the fact that Liverpool need a new left-back in 2025, this could be the perfect signing at the perfect time for Arne Slot.
Andy Robertson has started to decline a little and who better to replace him than Davies?
And according to Falk, Liverpool could still put themselves in the picture for the 24-year-old if they so wish.
“Alphonso Davies is open to a potential transfer away from Bayern Munich,” the journalist says in his Fact Files column. “He’s not 100% fixed on Manchester United or Real Madrid.”

“I heard that talks with Bayern, at the moment, are on ice until January. His agent, Nick Huoseh, will talk with any interested top club in the new year. When Huoseh is on his tour of England, Liverpool could get a meeting with him.
“It would be a good club for Davies, of course, given they play a style of football that would suit him,” Falks adds. “Liverpool, naturally, have a chance.
“I think Manchester United and Real Madrid are more concrete by comparison at this point in time. Bayern are also applying pressure to sign him up to a new contract. They’re still hopeful about making this work. So, Liverpool are still in the race, if they want him.”
Andy Robertson has already given Davies green light
We can’t believe that there are any Liverpool supporters out there who would not want to see this happen.
Robertson himself hailed Davies after the Bayern man turned Nelson Semedo inside out to set up Joshua Kimmich against Barcelona in 2020.
Reacting to a clip of Davies’ sensational assist, Robertson went out of his way to post a shocked emoji, an applauding pair of hands and a flame. Robbo was speechless.
At the time, the Liverpool man was arguably the best left-back on the planet, with Davies staking a claim to be a very close second.
More than four years later and the Canada international is still only 24, while Robertson looks to be struggling at the very top level.
If there is a chance here for Liverpool then they have to try and take it. It would be as cast iron as succession plans in football can get.
