Liverpool face Southampton this week in the quarter-final of the League Cup, with the Reds set to miss a few players due to injury.
Arne Slot said Diogo Jota missed Liverpool training today with the Portuguese international only just returning from a lengthy lay-off this Saturday with a fine goal against Fulham, with the Reds once again dealing with limited numbers in the senior squad.
With Southampton sacking Russell Martin, the Saints could be up for Wednesday’s clash against Liverpool at St. Mary’s, especially with the Reds set to bring a youthful squad down to the English south coast.
And Slot has now shared injury updates on Ibrahima Konate, Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas.

Tsimikas back in Liverpool training but Konate and Bradley still out
Speaking to the press, Slot confirmed that Tsimikas was back in training today, but Konate and Bradley are still unavailable having picked up injuries that could keep the duo out until the start of 2025 at the earliest.
The Liverpool manager said when asked about the latest injury updates surrounding the defensive trio: “Kostas is coming close, he’s going to train with us today maybe for the first time. So let’s see how that works out. Ibou and Conor are still not training with us.”
With Andy Robertson suspended after picking up a red card against Fulham on Saturday, Tsimikas’ return has come at the ideal time for Liverpool, with the Greek defender missing the last six games for the Reds in all competitions.
Indeed, Tsimikas’ form has been quietly good this season, and a return to the XI against the side bottom of the Premier League could be an ideal opportunity to bring the 28-year-old defender back into the fold, especially with Robertson out for the game.

Tsimikas return has come at the perfect time for Liverpool
Robertson’s red card was a big talking point from the weekend as Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Fulham lived up to expectations, with the Scottish defender set to be a big miss this week against Southampton.
However, with Tsimikas back in training today, the defender’s return could not have come at a more perfect time for Liverpool, who are already short on numbers at the back heading down the south coast.
The Greek international has thrived under Slot this season, and a starting XI berth in a cup quarter-final is the perfect occasion for Tsimikas to come back into the fold and to show his quality for the Reds.
