Liverpool look likely to be in the market for a new left-back during 2025.
Arne Slot has so far rotated between Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, with the Scot still seen as the preferred option.
However, Robertson has come under fire this term for a perceived dip in form, while Tsimikas has never really looked like a long-term first choice for Liverpool.
As a result, the Reds have been linked with all sorts of options in the transfer market.
The most persistent reports have claimed that Liverpool are monitoring Milos Kerkez as a matter of priority, while Rayan Ait Nouri has been heavily linked, too.
But while those two players would be good options for the Liverpool squad, the dream signing would surely be Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, who is set to be available for nothing next summer.

Liverpool send mixed signals on Alphonso Davies
There was a time not too long ago that Davies and Robertson were widely seen as the best two left full-backs on the planet.
While that perhaps may no longer be the case, Davies is still very much in that conversation.
Consequently, his availability on a free transfer could be a big opportunity for Liverpool.
Up until now, there has been a feeling that Davies is almost certain to join Real Madrid. But according to The Athletic, Liverpool are somewhat in the mix, too.

They claim that ‘industry sources’ have confirmed that the Reds have ‘expressed an interest’ in signing the Canadian and that they are seen as the ‘most plausible’ Premier League destination for Davies ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea.
However, it also said that a move to Anfield is seen as ‘unlikely’ at present, with insiders at Liverpool ‘strongly denying’ any intention of signing the 24-year-old.
Liverpool missing a trick with Davies
It really would make sense for Liverpool to go all in for Davies to be their new left-back.
His wages would be high coming in on a free transfer, but as he’s still only 24, surely the Reds can offer a good package with the incentive of improving it in the future.
The Liverpool owners and recruitment team are always keen to talk about ‘opportunities’ in the transfer market, well they don’t come much bigger than this in a position which Arne Slot could do with improving in.
Obviously, you can’t countenance interest from Real Madrid and it could be that Liverpool are already resigned to Davies going there.
But if there is even a chance that he could opt for the Premier League instead, then the Reds need to keep themselves in this conversation for as long as possible.
