Mohamed Salah was once again on unstoppable form for Liverpool this week in the Reds’ 3-3 draw against Newcastle United.
The Egyptian international scored twice and assist Curtis Jones as the former AS Roma winger showed why he’s arguably the best player in the world at the time of writing and a key reason behind Liverpool’s immense form this season.
With Pat Nevin praising Salah as ‘perfect’ during Liverpool’s draw with Newcastle, pundits are starting to run out of words to describe the Anfield no. 11, who is reaching otherworldly levels to push the Reds to important results in the Premier League.
And Michael Owen is one such expert who can’t even describe how good Salah has been this season.

Owen says Liverpool’s Premier League title bid will rest on Salah’s fitness
Speaking on Premier League Productions, the former Liverpool and Newcastle striker said the Reds’ pursuit for the Premier League title could rest on if Salah picks up an injury or not, with everything seemingly going through the winger at the moment.
With Salah’s injury record at Liverpool impeccable, the odds of the Anfield side losing the forward seem low, with the attacker having the uncanny ability to be fit and ready for the majority of games for the Reds.

And Owen thinks Salah’s fitness will be key to Liverpool’s success this season, with the pundit saying: “I’ve got no more words for him. How many goals he scores, the involvements he’s in, the assists he makes, he’s relentless.
“He’s never ever injured, he’s still as quick as he’s ever been, as strong as he’s ever been, he’s just so important. If Liverpool want to win the league, which I’m sure they do, he has to remain fit, because he’s their natural source of goals.”

Liverpool can’t afford to be overreliant on Salah this season
Salah’s form has been nothing short of outrageous, with the 32-year-old forward winning games on his own and turning up at the perfect moment to provide a goal or an assist for Liverpool.
| Mohamed Salah’s 2024/25 stats | Games played | Goals | Assists |
| Premier League | 14 | 13 | 8 |
| League Cup | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| UEFA Champions League | 5 | 1 | 4 |
| Total | 21 | 15 | 12 |
Yet as Salah’s stats for the season show, Liverpool are becoming heavily reliant on the winger, a problem that could become major if the attacker does pick up an injury that keeps him out on the sideline for multiple games.
Indeed, Liverpool need to start finding goals from other areas of the pitch, and the Reds have to bring more attackers into the fold to contribute rather than relying on the genius of Salah week-in week-out.
