Mohamed Salah has once again been Liverpool’s main man this season and is currently one of the most in-form players in world football.
With 11 goals and seven assists in the Premier League, the Egyptian is in a league of his own and has spearheaded the Reds to the top of the table, nine points behind second-placed Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s side, however, have looked good in recent weeks and could emerge as Liverpool’s main contenders for the title as Manchester City seem to be off-colour this season.
Bukayo Saka has been Arsenal’s biggest shining light this season as he continues to cement his status as one of the best attackers in Europe.
And Paul Merson has delivered an interesting response on who he thinks is the better player between Salah and Saka.
Paul Merson says Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is currently better than Bukayo Saka

Since both players adopt similar roles for their respective clubs, their comparison becomes a bit more straightforward.
While Salah was involved in both goals in the 2-0 win against Man City – scoring and assisting one apiece – Saka starred in Arsenal’s 5-2 win against West Ham United with a goal and two assists.
The Englishman took his assists tally in the league up to ten after the London derby, becoming the first player in Europe’s top ten leagues to do so.
While Merson acknowledged that both players – along with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer – have been fantastic this season, he believes the Egyptian takes the cake as the better player this season.
“If you ask me to pick the most in-form player out of Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah, that’s a tough one,” wrote Merson in his column for Sportskeeda.
“All of them are ripping it apart in their own way. But if I had to pick just one, I would go with Salah. Liverpool are runaway leaders at the top and he always scores in the big games. Make no mistake, the other two are flying too.”
Saka vs Salah stats comparison
Gary Neville lavished praise on Salah for his performance vs Man City as he produced two key moments either side of half-time to give his side a famous win at Anfield.
| Prem Stats 24-25 | Goals | Assists | Mins played |
| Mohamed Salah | 11 | 7 | 1140 |
| Bukayo Saka | 5 | 10 | 982 |
Saka has also been in fine form for Arsenal this season, but their underlying numbers suggest the Arsenal attacker still has a long way to go before being put in the same category as the Egyptian.
That said, Saka and Salah are setting the standard in terms of wingers in the Premier League and their form between now and the end of the season could well dictate the title race.
