Liverpool currently lead at the break against Manchester City, with the Reds making Pep Guardiola’s side look ordinary.

Even with Ibrahima Konate and Alisson Becker missing from the starting XI, Liverpool have been in cruise control against the reigning Premier League champions, with the Reds looking set to go 11 points clear of City in the standings.

With Robbie Fowler predicting a Liverpool win heading into today’s game, the Anfield side lived up to the pre-match pressure in astonishing fashion after an electric first-half, with Mohamed Salah finding Cody Gakpo from close range to put the hosts 1-0 up at the break.

And Gary Neville was in awe by one moment from the Liverpool no. 11 against City.

Speaking on Sky Sports coverage of the match, the former Manchester United defender was in awe by Salah’s assist for Gakpo, with the former AS Roma superstar picking out the Dutch international with an incredible curving pass that passed City’s defence and goalkeeper.

Indeed, Liverpool ran City ragged in the first half, and it was Salah’s assist that started things off, with Neville saying on the pass: “This is just world-class. That is unbelievable from Mo Salah. He looks up, he looks up, Akanji is nowhere near, he doesn’t try to block it off, Ortega can’t get there.

“Kyle Walker at the back post doesn’t even know Gakpo is there but don’t take anything away from the fact that is vision, brilliance and precision from Salah to spot that pass.”

Neville was also impressed from one pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the pundit saying: “You’ll never see a better pass from a right-back than that. That is ridiculous. It’s 70 or 80 yards, faded, around Ake right into the path of Salah.”

Salah is making a real claim as the best player in the world this season

12 goals and 11 assists in all competition is nothing of spectacular from any player at this stage in the season, but Salah is starting to prove that he is no ordinary player for Liverpool under Arne Slot.

The 32-year-old winger’s form has hit new heights under the Dutch manager, with the attacker playing a big role in Liverpool’s bid for the Premier League title and turning up at the right moments for the Reds when they need a special goal or assist.

And against City, Salah is proving just, with the forward proving too much to handle for Guardiola’s side down the right, who could be in for a long game if the Liverpool star continues like this in the second-half.
