Liverpool face Manchester City this afternoon in what could be one of the biggest games of the Premier League season in regards to the title race.
Arne Slot’s side sit comfortably at the top of the standings with the Reds an incredible eight points clear of City, who have not won in their last six games in all competitions with Pep Guardiola’s men recently throwing away a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord.

With Robbie Fowler predicting Liverpool to get a result against City having just beaten the reigning European champions Real Madrid, the Anfield side are the strong favourites going into today’s tie on Merseyside.
Yet Troy Deeney has made quite the unusual prediction heading into this afternoon’s clash.

Deeney backs Man City to beat Liverpool despite recent form
Speaking to TalkSport, the pundit made the bold claim that City will beat Liverpool despite the Manchester side’s recent form coupled with how unbeatable the Reds currently look under Arne Slot.
The Dutch coach has led Liverpool to 17 wins in his first 20 games in charge this season, with the historic start firing Liverpool to the top of the Premier League as well as the UEFA Champions League standings.
Yet Deeney believes City will have some surprises up their sleeves, with the former Watford striker saying: “I think City are going to be better organised, I think this is the perfect game for them. I know that’s a weird thing to say.
“But Liverpool just beat Real Madrid, so their fans are expectant. But this is the first time Man City have been underdogs in a game for the betting companies. So everyone is writing them off, but I think they will be more together, more solid. I can see them nicking it, 2-1.”

Liverpool will be desperate to prove Deeney and critics wrong today
Liverpool have been nothing short of unstoppable under Slot this season, with the Anfield side looking like strong favourites to win silverware whether it be in the Premier League, Champions League or with a domestic cup.
And a win today against City will solidify Liverpool’s intent to go all the way in every competition this season, with the Reds aware that beating the reigning Premier League champions will send a statement to the rest of the league.
Indeed, Liverpool know that they have to be at their absolute best if they’re to beat City today, even with the Manchester side in poor form, and the Reds know a win today will go a long way in their quest to win everything this season.
