Gent hoping Liverpool one day make a move for Momodou Sonko

According to Voetbal Nieuws, Gent are banking on Liverpool one day making a move to sign Momodou Sonko, with the Swedish youngster still on the Reds’ radar having missed out on the forward in the summer.

Liverpool were reportedly in talks for Sonko with BK Hacken before the attacker was signed by Gent, where the 19-year-old is yet to really get going with the teenager managing just two goals in 13 appearances for the Belgian side.

Noted by Hacken’s sporting director as an ‘exceptional’ talent as per Aftonbladet, there’s a chance that Liverpool’s interest in Sonko has decreased of sorts since the forward’s uninspiring move to Gent this summer.

Yet with the Belgian side holding out for a club like Liverpool to one day move for Sonko, there could still be a chance that the Reds dip back into the market for the teenage attacker, who could be very keen on moving to Anfield.

Liverpool need to be looking at experienced players in January

Sonko is clearly a big talent for the future, even with the Swedish youth international failing to hit the heights that many expected from the Gothenburg-born talent in Belgium with Gent.

Yet for Liverpool heading into January, the main mission should be to bring in experienced players who can add real value to Slot’s side, who this season can go all the way in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

Indeed, Liverpool could make history this season if they play their cards right, and two or three good senior signings in January could lead to the Merseyside giants winning the ultimate double in England and in Europe.
