A round-up of the latest Liverpool news as the Reds study signing a £30m Tottenham Hotspur target and Mohamed Salah delivers an update about Alisson Becker’s injury.
Liverpool monitoring Virgil van Dijk’s injury after returning early from Netherlands duty
The November international break may prove costly for Liverpool after captain Virgil van Dijk returned early from representing the Netherlands with a potential injury. He is now a doubt for the Reds’ trip to Southampton on Sunday to continue their bid for a Premier League title.
Liverpool top the top-flight standings through 11 games thanks largely to having the number one defence. Arne Slot has so far seen his side ship just six goals and keep six clean sheets in Premier League games this term. But Ibrahima Konate may need a new partner on Sunday.

Yet journalist James Pearce has moved to allay fears that Van Dijk has sustained a big injury, even though Liverpool continue to monitor a ‘minor’ problem. The Netherlands are said to have also elected to send Van Dijk home early to avoid risking the injury getting any worse.
Losing Van Dijk owing to an injury for a prolonged period of time would be a major blow for Liverpool and the Merseyside outfit’s Premier League title hopes. The 33-year-old has so far started in all 11 of their matches this season, whilst offering one goal and one assist as well.

Liverpool study a transfer for Fulham defender Joachim Andersen
Liverpool are studying the transfer of Fulham defender Joachim Andersen as the Reds build a list of possible centre-half targets. That is according to Caught Offside, which reports that Tottenham Hotspur also have the Denmark international on the north London team’s radar.
Spurs, the Anfield natives and Serie A giants Juventus all appreciate what Anderson has had to show at Craven Cottage since leaving south for west London when he left Crystal Palace in August. The Cottagers splashed around £30m to lure the 28-year-old from their rival club.
Andersen has been a pivotal part of Marco Silva’s backline since forcing a way into Fulham’s starting XI. Silva has only been without the centre-back since his Cottagers debut when they drew 1-1 at Everton with Andersen suspended after a red card in a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

Mohamed Salah shares an update on Liverpool star Alisson Becker’s injury

Liverpool face a tricky run of games after the November international break, but head coach Arne Slot might get Alisson Becker back from injury. The Brazil goalkeeper has not played for the Reds since he suffered a hamstring issue in their 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on October 5.
Caoimhin Kelleher has deputised for Alisson in the Anfield natives’ past four Premier League games, of which Liverpool won three and drew one. But Slot could have a decision on which shot-stopper starts when the Reds visit Southampton this Sunday with Alisson on the mend.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has even offered an update on Alisson’s return from injury on his Instagram stories. The attacker has shared a short video from the AXA Training Centre, in which head of rehab physiotherapy Lee Nobes was putting Alisson to work earlier this week.
Given Alisson will have not featured for seven weeks when the Reds travel to St Mary’s, Slot may stick with Kelleher to start for Liverpool against Southampton. But the Reds will delight in their No1 returning to fitness with Real Madrid, Manchester City and Newcastle to follow.
