Whether Christian Pulisic would want to join Liverpool after claims Reds are preparing move

The November international break has seen transfer rumours start to take centre stage for Liverpool.

With no football on offer on the pitch, talk has been turning to who the Reds could be lining up to buy during the January window.

One of the players to have been surprisingly linked with Liverpool has been AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic.

Pulisic was on Liverpool’s radar as a young player emerging under Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund.

But although a move to Anfield had seemed inevitable at one stage, the American eventually ended up going to Chelsea in 2019, where he spent four years before joining Milan in 2023.

In sizzling form for the Italians, reports have claimed that Pulisic has caught Liverpool’s eye once again.

Would Christian Pulisic want Liverpool move?

With Mohamed Salah still slated to depart Liverpool at the end of the season as things stand, the Reds will likely need a new forward over the next two transfer windows.

Having hit seven goals in 15 games for Milan this season, Pulisic could be an interesting option.

However, according to journalist Graeme Bailey, it is unlikely that the 26-year-old would be keen on a return to England so soon after a disappointing spell at Chelsea ended.

“Personally, I don’t see Pulisic being in a massive hurry to come back to England in any way, shape or form,” Bailey tells Rousing The Kop.

“He had a rough time at Chelsea and he’s doing great at Milan.

“But I think he’s a wonderful player and he could be Liverpool level.

“He’ll be on the radar because he’s doing well, but I don’t see him being in any hurry to leave Milan in the near future, he’s loving life there.”

Christian Pulisic ship has sailed for Liverpool

There should perhaps always remain a tinge of regret that Liverpool never pushed harder to get Pulisic back in 2019.

The USA international is clearly a very good player and although injuries disrupted his time at Chelsea, there will always be a feeling that he could have done so much more at Liverpool.

On his day, Pulisic is pretty near impossible to stop. The Reds have found that out a number of times, with the former Dortmund player’s goal against them in this season’s Champions League his third in eight meetings with Liverpool.

Had he been available last summer, maybe the Reds would have seen an opportunity to get a previous target on the cheap, much like they did with Federico Chiesa.

But now doing well at Milan, Pulisic would cost far more than Liverpool would want to pay for a 26-year-old who would likely be a back-up. As much as it is a shame, the Pulisic ship has surely sailed past Anfield.
