Arne Slot appears to have the Midas touch at Liverpool so far since taking over the reigns from Jurgen Klopp.

The Dutchman has won 14 of his 16 games across all competitions at Anfield as Liverpool find themselves at the top of the Premier League standings.

Not too much has gone against them this season, with the Reds also winning each of their four UEFA Champions League games to top the 36-man table.

However, Adebayo Akinfenwa has appeared to hit out at the club he holds so close to his heart as they continue to sweat over the futures of three key players.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are arguably Liverpool’s three most important players and have been in fantastic form this season.

However, the Reds run the risk of losing the trio at the end of the season as their contracts are set to expire.

Akinfenwa can’t believe just how late Liverpool have left it to convince them to stay, labeling the situation as ‘insane.’

“I have to be. A 100%,” said Akinfenwa when Jamie O’Hara asked if he was worried about the Liverpool trio’s futures.

“When you talk about owners and them being business-minded, how do you allow three of your franchise players to all run down their contracts at the same time. I just think it’s insane.”

What has Slot said about Liverpool trio?

Over the past few weeks, the Liverpool boss has been grilled about Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold’s future and he has kept his cards close to his chest.

Ahead of the Premier League clash against Villa, Slot admitted he’s involved in talks with the Liverpool trio, although he refused to give much else away.

Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold have been reliable under the new manager and losing even one of them would be a massive blow to his project, let alone all three.
