Liverpool head into the November international break five points clear at the top of the Premier League after a 2-0 win against Aston Villa.

A Mohamed Salah masterclass ensured Arne Slot’s side made it four wins in a row with Liverpool’s title rivals Manchester City once again slipping up having lost earlier in the day away to Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1.

With Liverpool fans sending a contract message to FSG regarding Salah, the Anfield side head into the final international break of 2024 full of confidence that this season could be one of their best in recent memory under new manager Slot.

And Villa head coach Unai Emery has shared his opinion on Liverpool’s performance at Anfield.

Liverpool ‘did not have a lot of clear chances’ despite 2-0 Villa win

Speaking to TNT Sports, the former Villarreal and Arsenal manager noted how Liverpool were not as dangerous in the attack as many would have perceived, with the Reds taking their chances well when given the opportunity.

Darwin Nunez’s opening goal came after an excellent Liverpool breakaway allowed the Uruguay international to slot past Emi Martinez in brilliant fashion, whilst Salah secured the 2-0 result with a trademark run and finish down the right.

And for Emery, Liverpool took their chances well, with the Reds only needing two clear-cut opportunities to claim all three points against one of the most exciting sides in the Premier League this season in Villa.

Emery said: “Liverpool dominated sometimes but they did not have a lot of clear chances to score. We did our work and we had the chances to score in the first half, in the second half, and we played more or less in the way I wanted.”
