Liverpool claimed one of their best results of the season with a 4-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen, with Luis Diaz scoring a hat-trick.
The Colombia international was in inspired form for the Reds as three second-half goals helped the Anfield side to a big win against Leverkusen, where Diaz was the star of the show for Liverpool on Merseyside.
With Stephen Warnock also impressed by Diaz’s performance, the former FC Porto star once again showed why he has been one of the best players for Liverpool this season and a figure who has been transformed under Arne Slot.
And the winger shared how he felt playing in a brand new position for Liverpool against Leverkusen.

Diaz ‘enjoyed’ playing as a no. 9 for Liverpool vs Leverkusen
Speaking to Amazon Prime, Diaz noted how he ‘enjoyed’ playing as a no. 9 for Liverpool against Leverkusen, a position that the 27-year-old winger has hardly played throughout his career.
Diaz said: “We have top-quality players all over the pitch, but actually, I enjoyed playing in that position today, and wherever I’m playing I’m going to work hard and help the team.”
With Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez both being used by Slot as Liverpool’s no. 9, Diaz scoring a hat-trick in his first start in the new position will give the Dutch manager plenty to think about in upcoming fixtures.
And for Diaz, the Colombia international will be keen to keep playing in the position after such an incredible performance against Leverkusen, with the forward turning the game on it’s head in the second-half.

Who should start as Liverpool’s main striker?

And with Liverpool having a tough run of Premier League fixtures coming up, Slot will have a big decision to make on who should lead the line in the coming weeks, with Diaz’s name now firmly in the mix.
Indeed, Jota returning from injury will add another factor for the Dutch manager, whereas Nunez’s recent form could also give Slot something to think about, with the Liverpool coach having a good problem on his hands.
