Liverpool could make ‘crazy’ transfer offer for £17m AC Milan star

Liverpool were one of the quietest teams in the January transfer window this summer, with the Reds making just two signings.

Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa were both signed by Arne Slot with the former heading back on loan to Valencia for the season, where the Georgia international could challenge Arne Slot for the no. 1 spot next year.

With Liverpool linked with Karim Adeyemi and Jeremie Frimpong heading into 2025, though, next year looks set to be a big one for the Reds in terms of new signings, with the Anfield side potentially losing Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

And Liverpool could make an unusual transfer off in an upcoming window.

Liverpool considering Tijjani Reijnders swoop involving Federico Chiesa

According to Milan Live, Liverpool are interested in AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, with the Reds weighing up whether to include Chiesa in a deal to bring the Dutch international to Anfield.

As per the report, the idea is ‘crazy’, with Liverpool only signing the Italian international this summer, though injuries have limited Chiesa’s minutes with the Reds severally despite the hype surrounding the forward.

Reijnders, though, would be quite the signing for Liverpool, with the £17m midfielder regarded as one of the most underrated players in Serie A and a player who could be set for big things in the years to come.

Indeed, central midfield is a key position for Liverpool to strengthen in next season, and even though the idea of getting rid of Chiesa already seems crazy, the prospect of signing Reijnders might be too good to turn down.

Liverpool should explore swap-deal for Reijnders next year

Chiesa’s injury problems were somewhat expected given how many issues the Italian international has had in the last three years, with the winger still on the path to recovery since joining Liverpool.

And if Milan are open to a swap deal with Liverpool involving Reijnders and Chiesa, the Reds should jump at the chance given how important it will be to sign a top-class midfielder for 2025 with options currently low.

Reijnders has shown with Milan over the last 12 months that he is ready for a big move next year, and Liverpool could be perfect for the Dutch international, especially if Chiesa can go the other way.
