How Federico Chiesa reacted to Liverpool’s comeback win over Brighton at Anfield

Liverpool came from behind to secure a brilliant win over Brighton at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds were sluggish and off the pace during the opening 45 minutes against the Seagulls but came back to win the three points.

Arne Slot made a change in the Liverpool midfield at half-time which just provided a little more solidity against Brighton’s clever press.

But in the end it was the forward’s who won the Reds the match. Mohamed Salah lashed home an ‘unbelievable’ finish after Cody Gakpo’s slightly fortuitous opener.

With both Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota out injured, Liverpool need their attackers to turn up. After taking a while to get going, they duly delivered.

And following the final whistle had blown, journalist Lewis Steele captured the reaction from Chiesa.

Federico Chiesa happy with Liverpool win

Chiesa has now missed each of Liverpool’s last seven matches. It has been a difficult period for the Italian.

The Reds could really have done with him, too, with so many fixtures in such a short space of time.

Nevertheless, Slot has confirmed that Chiesa should be available after the November international break.

In the meantime, it was nice to see the 27-year-old at Anfield cheering on his teammates for their comeback win on Saturday.

Posting on X, journalist Steele shared a video of Chiesa inside the Anfield tunnel after full-time.

“Federico Chiesa with a smile on his face after that,” wrote the reporter.

Liverpool’s forwards come to the party

While Liverpool would love to have Chiesa back as soon as possible, it was great to see the contributions of all of the Reds available forwards on Saturday.

Not all of them scored of course, but Darwin Nunez showed flashes of brilliance while Luis Diaz was an important figure in turning the game around and seeing it out, too.

Without Chiesa and Jota to call upon, Slot has needed these players to turn up as often as possible.

Although Liverpool know they can always count on Salah, the same has not always been true of the other three.

At Anfield on Saturday, it was, and Chiesa was there to see it all.
