Daniel Sturridge reacts to Mohamed Salah’s brilliant winning goal for Liverpool against Brighton

Liverpool staged an impressive fightback to secure a 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ferdi Kadioglu broke the deadlock with a fantastic finish, but second-half goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah meant Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League standings, with Manchester City and Arsenal losing earlier today.

Gakpo equalised for Liverpool as his cross found its way into the back of the net without a touch, but Salah produced the crowning moment of the game moments later.

After receiving a pass from Curtis Jones, the Egyptian cut into his preferred left foot and launched an unstoppable effort into the top corner, giving Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen no chance.

Sturridge took to X to lavish praise on his former teammate, describing his trademark left-footed finish as ‘lethal’.

Chris Sutton also praised Salah for his fantastic goal vs Brighton as the 32-year-old produced another important moment of magic to give his side all three points.

Salah was impressive against Brighton in the second half after not getting involved in the game before the interval.

His goal was a thing of beauty and came at the right time as Liverpool had just begun to grow in stature after Gakpo’s equaliser.
