Liverpool avoided a scare on Wednesday night as they navigated past Brighton and into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

For the supporters travelling all the way from Merseyside, the long journey ended up being the spookiest part of the evening.

Jarell Quansah was told he suffered a ‘nightmare’ performance at the Amex, but the 21-year-old was still on the winning side.

And so, with Liverpool celebrating another well-earned win this Halloween, former player Luis Garcia has been having a bit of fun, too.

Garcia is a cult figure at Anfield having played a big part in the Champions League win of 2005.

The Spaniard’s most iconic goal of that legendary campaign was his semi-final winner against Chelsea – the infamous ‘ghost goal.’ 19 years on, and Garcia is still reliving that most bizarre of moments.

Luis Garcia celebrates ‘ghost goal’

Since retiring, Garcia has turned his hand to punditry and can often be seen commenting on goings on at Liverpool for ESPN in particular.

Although he actually only spent three years at Anfield, the former Spain international is clearly still a big Liverpool fan.

And given the iconic nature of his goal against Chelsea – and everything that followed – Garcia will always be fondly remembered by Reds supporters, too.

Fans will certainly have enjoyed his little Halloween video on Thursday morning.

“Happy Halloween!! Special day for a good friend who paid a visit and worked out with me,” wrote the 46-year-old. “Always great to catch up and remember some good moments!!”

Garcia proceeded to share a video of him working out with a ‘ghost,’ representing the nickname that was given to his strike against the Blues.

The former Liverpool No.10 then recreated the goal in what looks like his back garden, with the ‘ghost’ joining in the celebrations. Fantastic stuff.

Ghost goal set to turn 20

Somewhat remarkably, May will be 20 years since Garcia scored this goal to send Liverpool to the 2005 Champions League final.

It remains to be seen whether the man himself will mark the occasion with something particularly special.

One man who certainly hasn’t forgotten it even after close to two decades is then Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho named Garcia’s goal as the worst moment of his career when asked in June of this year.

“Champions League semi-final, lost with a goal that was not a goal,” bemoaned the Portuguese. We’d beg to differ, Jose. Happy Halloween everyone!
