A marker of Liverpool’s game plan under Arne Slot so far has been an ability to hit teams with quick counter-attacks.
With Jurgen Klopp in the dugout, the Reds became one of the most efficient around at hitting the opposition on the break.
The speed of peak Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane running at teams in transition was simply too much for anyone to handle.
Under Slot, the Liverpool attack obviously looks slightly different, but it’s similarly pacy.
Cody Gakpo is one of those who has come into the Liverpool squad and the Dutchman is certainly no slouch himself.
But according to Gakpo himself, there is a teammate at Anfield who would beat he and just about any other player in a foot race.

Cody Gakpo hails Darwin Nunez speed
Gakpo looks set to start against Brighton on Wednesday in what we think will be a forward line with extreme pace.
Salah is surely set to be rested, meaning Luis Diaz will probably come in and Darwin Nunez will play through the middle.
Most people would assume that both of those players would be in with a shout of being named the fastest at Liverpool and according to Gakpo, it’s Nunez who takes the crown.
Pitted against YouTuber ‘Angry Ginge’ for a video from Pro: Direct Soccer, Gakpo rubbishes his claims that either Andy Robertson or Salah are faster than Nunez.

“He’s quick but not, like, the fastest, you know what I mean?” said the 25-year-old on Robertson.
And while Gakpo did concede that Salah is ‘fast’ he suggested that the Egyptian is not quite on Nunez’s level.
“Darwin Nunez, one of or the fastest in the team, yeah,” said the No.18.
Darwin Nunez set for Liverpool chance
Not only is Nunez likely to start for Liverpool against Brighton, the Uruguayan could now find himself in the team for some time to come.
Slot confirmed on Tuesday that we will not see Diogo Jota until the other side of the November international break.
As a result, Nunez is now the only natural centre-forward the Liverpool head coach has at his disposal.
Obviously, the No.9 cannot play every minute of every game, though, and it will be interesting to see who Slot does play whenever Darwin needs a rest.
But for the main part, Nunez is going to be Liverpool’s central striker for a clutch of important games. Time to show that speed and get himself a few goals.
