Liverpool vs Manchester City has been the standout fixture in the Premier League over the last few years.

Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola were involved in a handful of close title races over the years and the battle between the two managers emerged as one of the most-watched games in world football.

Klopp has now been replaced by Arne Slot at the helm, but the fixture is still set to be hotly contested this season as Liverpool and Man City compete for the title.

While Anfield is usually rocking for this fixture, there have been claims that the Etihad Stadium doesn’t quite match up in terms of the atmosphere.

And Trent Alexander-Arnold has given his honest thoughts on Man City’s atmosphere when Liverpool play against them.

The Liverpool vice-captain scored a fantastic late goal at the Etihad last season to spearhead his side to a 1-1 draw and has been a key player in this fixture over the years.

Contrary to popular belief, Alexander-Arnold lavished praise on the atmosphere at the Etihad whenever Liverpool traveled there for a game.

“People always talk about Man City’s atmosphere – hand on heart when we play them the atmosphere is incredible!” said Alexander-Arnold on Sky Sports’s YouTube channel.

“We feel it, it’s intense, and the atmosphere is always really good there! Liverpool vs Man City – the whole world watches that game. It’s almost like the English version of El Clasico.”

What’s the latest on Alexander-Arnold’s future?

With his contract set to expire next summer, Real Madrid are looking to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer.

With Dani Carvajal out for the foreseeable future with an ACL injury, the La Liga giants are on the lookout for a right-back and the 26-year-old is at the top of their shortlist.

However, Fabrizio Romano feels Alexander-Arnold is talking to Liverpool over an extension and has shown no indication that he wants to leave.

Liverpool simply cannot afford to lose one of their biggest assets, so the only favorable outcome of this saga is for the gifted Scouser to put pen to paper on an extension before the turn of the year to avoid the risk of losing him for free.
