Liverpool face Arsenal this Sunday in what could be a huge fixture in the race for the Premier League title.

The Reds currently sit four points clear of the north London side in the standings after last weekend’s results saw a ten-man Arsenal lose 2-0 to AFC Bournemouth as Liverpool got the job done against Chelsea at Anfield.

With Arsenal working to get Bukayo Saka ready for the game, there’s a real chance that the Gunners could be without the England international to face Liverpool, with William Saliba out through suspension after the defender’s red card against the Cherries.

And Mikel Arteta has now fired a warning at Liverpool ahead of Sunday’s tie.

Arteta says Arsenal ‘will be flying’ vs Liverpool on Sunday

Speaking to the press after last night’s UEFA Champions League win against Shakhtar Donetsk, the former Manchester City stated that Arsenal ‘will be flying’ against Liverpool after four days of rest between now and the fixture.

With Arsenal not at their best last night at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta’s words could be viewed as a rallying cry for the Gunners more than a warning shot for Liverpool, who head to north London as the clear favourites.

Arteta said: “We played two and half days ago, after internationals, after flying from Brazil and many countries, I was expecting that we could drop off a little bit. And the fact we put so much in the first half and didn’t convert and get the distance in terms of the result and the scoreline.

“I think we paid a little bit of that and then we made life more difficult for us because obviously we started to give the ball away and not regain the ball in the right areas and it was more open so that didn’t help, but we have four days, and believe me, on Sunday we will be flying.”

Liverpool already appear to be winning the mind games

Liverpool have been exceptional this season, with the Reds rightfully top of the Premier League standings after a historic start to the campaign under new manager Arne Slot.

And based on Arteta’s comments, Liverpool already appear to be winning the mental game heading into Sunday’s huge tie with Arsenal, with the north London side potentially worried about what’s to come up against the Reds.

Indeed, a win for Liverpool could put Arsenal out of the title race already this season, and a need to win all three points could end up exposing the Gunners in a way that will benefit the Anfield side greatly in their mission on Sunday.
