Liverpool are looking to make it three wins in as many games in the UEFA Champions League this season to maintain their strong start to the season under Arne Slot.

After convincing wins against AC Milan and Bologna in their previous two encounters, the Reds are looking to win on their travels once again, having won each of their first five away games this season.

Liverpool head into the interval with a 1-0 lead thanks to a close-range finish from Darwin Nunez after he latched onto a brilliant header from Mohamed Salah to tap the ball home.

But Pat Nevin feels the away side could have found themselves in a spot of bother early in the game.

Caoimhin Kelleher continues to deputize for Alisson Becker between the sticks and started his first Champions League game of the season.

In the opening exchanges of the game, the Irishman’s wayward pass found its way to Benjamin Sesko, whose effort went just wide of the far post.

Speaking about the passage of play, Nevin slammed the Liverpool goalkeeper for over-complicating the situation.

“Awful goalkeeping. Just clear it! Kelleher didn’t get it out and Sesko had a chance,” said Nevin on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I think Sesko should be disappointed that he doesn’t get it on target.”

The 25-year-old featured in Premier League wins against Chelsea and Bournemouth, keeping a clean sheet against the Cherries at home in the 3-0 win.

Kelleher also played the full ninety minutes against West Ham United in the EFL Cup as the Reds romped to a 5-1 victory at Anfield.

With Alisson set to be sidelined for the foreseeable future, Kelleher’s form will be crucial if Liverpool are to sustain their early-season momentum.
